An elected local government lady from south of Manchester quips on tv

A fun report on a breakfast tv programme this morning, an elected councillor, or local government official came out with a brilliant quip, when being asked a personal question, towards the end of the interview/segment.

Piers Morgan asked her "what her she was married, or had a man in her life"?

Her answer, quick as a flash was, "Only a husband, not a man in my life"!, (humour intended I'm sure?).

I think she was chosen to be interviewed because this woman had become popular on social media, when clips of her calmly ordering other councillors out of meetings, (after they'd become disruptive or whatever), and Jackie had referred to herself as Britney Spears, and had commented about " Standard Orders" being thrown into everything by disruptive council members, (liked or seen by millions, when the video clips were posted by a schoolboy online).

Her name is Jackie Weaver, and more power to her arm, if she can keep order in meetings, chuck out those losing their heads or forcing the rules down everyone's throats calmly before the zoom council meeting had even started, then go on national tv, and handle a very controversial figure/presenter/ego maniac like Piers Morgan, we haven't heard the last of this lady!

She was asked too about the secret of a happy marriage, and she had a wonderful comment there, very wise words I think.

She said when people tell her they are one person when out at work, and then go home and become the "real" person they are, "warts and all" so to speak, Jackie Weaver said in her opinion we should all try to keep the best of ourselves for those who mean most to us, if we haven't got enough for everyone!

Sounds like a good recipe for a happy marriage, and my own brother used to say something along those lines to his wife.

Unfortunately we're all guilty of doing the opposite sometimes, and occasionally with justification if the person wouldn't listen anyway, like those three other councillors on Handforth council zoom meeting referred to in OP!

There is a book called, "Games people play".
(isn't there, I think that's the title, about the ways even the best of us may choose to deceive, for example where the alternative just won't work, because the person concerned isn't ready to hear the full true story etc.).
