Try using a gripper rubber pad, works for me :)

If you turn the cap upside down and put the other end in to the bottle, you can just screw it off like you normally would.

One of the girls at the pharmacy showed me that trick, and that's how it's done.. :)
 

Thanks all! I too was told that trick about the upside down cap with the pill bottles. It’sthe over the counter cough med that is the most trouble for me. Nice to know I’m not alone. And I too take the point of a scissors to those inner seals and & the seal in the outside that has to go before I can even start fooling with the cap.

Lids or caps with side-squeezing tabs to open I often find to be the worst. A pair of slip-joint pliers applied to the side tabs can often give them the persuasion they require. Aside from pill bottles, I've lost hand strength in general. Opening the new soup cans with those tabs used to be a breeze, but now I use a knife to lift the tab, and long scissors to use as a lever to lift the top.
 
Very true Chet about those pop top cans. I use some kind of a lever too. Those rings feel like, they’d cut my finger off if I pushed hard. (Hey, I’m a Pitt alum. Haven’t followed their sports lately tho.)
 
Fuzzy buddy you are so right about the mouthwash! I finally threw out a travel size bottle of listerine after trying unsuccessfully to open it periodically over a period of several years!

Yes there is a secret
The bottles are threaded on the inside so all you have to do is flip the cap upside down & screw it into the bottle That makes the wide part the part you turn. Couldn't be easier

Transferring prescription meds. to a container with no label can lead to major problems. I would be very careful there.
 
After I used a screwdriver to bend up (not remove) the cap in several places around the bottle, it loosened it enough so now the cap just screws on with very little downward pressure.
