Grocery prices going up...substantially

Between this pandemic and unusual weather, food prices are going up.

Yesterday, we shopped at our local Walmart, and while my wife was filling the cart, I wandered the aisles, looking for "specials"....which were few. I was amazed when I got to the meat aisle. Some premium cuts of steak were selling for over $10 a pound....almost double what the prices were a few months ago. It looks like a major part of this "stimulus" money may have to go for higher food prices in the foreseeable future.

I don't mind as long as some of it finds its way into the farmer's and worker's pockets.

Guess it’s a good thing that I can no longer digest beef very well. Not even tempted to try and eat a steak.

Well, yes...food prices and other things go up here for all the same reasons. So does the need for the food bank. Bad timing for prices to go up when so many are out-of-work.

I do a lot of cooking at home right now so I save quite a bit. We don't go out much and even though the gas prices have risen here; I don't seem to be buying gas as much. Hopefully things will get better as time goes by.

Our petrol has gone up 10p a litre in just a month... 50p a gallon....

Our food prices have risen dramatically also , last week I got one filled bag of groceries from a mid range supermarket ( Morrisons for all Brits)... and it cost me £50... this is very expensive for this supermarket, and usually the price I would expect to pay in a higher range supermarket.. I'm dreading shopping now in the latter , goodness knows what their prices have risen to now...

The prices in New Jersey are high also. We still have restrictions on certain items. My daughter lives outside of DC which is only 5 hours away from us and she has no restrictions on anything.
Rice and rice products are limited to 2 bags or boxes and cleaning supplies are also limited and high priced.
What I found unusual was that a few products that are always high priced in winter were reasonably priced..
Red peppers, cucumbers ,lettuce, and oranges to name a few. Bananas were dirt cheap.
These days shrimp is cheaper than fish.
I would buy them for a special treat for dinner, but now we have them instead of fish. I'm freezing bags of them for when we start up the grill.

No restrictions on any food here. This is to encourage people to stuff their faces with food and wine to drown out the sorrows of not being able to get to a hair salon or a pub...

Do some research on the environment those shrimp were raised and living in. You may not want to at them.

Prices here are spotty. Local store still has boneless skinless chicken breasts and chicken thighs for 99 cents a LB.
