squirt bottle!

i have the sweetest cat. she's 110% cat. very nocturnal... previous cat would snuggle up at NIGHT. ms pi (estimated b-day of 3/14) waits till i'm sound asleep and then pesters to death or has to knock something off of some surface. thought she was all black with one lone tan paw when she picked me at county shelter. she's about 2 and seems more and more "tortie" every day.

i must have at least 4 squirt bottles... in a 1 BR apartment. i bet i squirt her with a pint of water every single day! i think she's beginning to thoroughly enjoy it!? sometimes i wonder if i need to go u a notch or 2 to a "super soaker". :sneaky:
 

My dog acts up in the car. Once,while I was in the Post office, he put my car in 4wd and put the emergency brake on. He rolled down all the windows. Some said, "Squirt him with a squir gun when he won't settle down!" I did, but he loved it!

If the water bottle doesn't work sometimes they need more to get their attention. Once they understand what it's for...all you will have to do is reach for it and they will stop. Keep trying till you find something they respond too. The sound of the pennies isn't something they like I don't think. The pet pros use clickers. I never had a clicker so the pennies did the trick. Not too many pennies. They need room to move and make racket. Good luck!
 
I read that a lot of people put their cats in a separate room at night so they can get some sleep. I fixed up my bathroom for her to have time outs and a place to stay during the night. Her litter is there, a bowl of water, a few toys, & a chair. She has gotten to where she likes this room so much that she goes in there during the day to take a nap. And, at bedtime she willingly goes there while I get ready for bed.

Also, the pennies in stainless steel coffee mugs has worked great for us. One shake seems to do the trick and, sometimes, just picking a container up works.

My folks have 2 cats. They go out on this indoor back porch area at night. The cats now pester mom at 10 pm cuz they know it's time.

It sounds like that method is not working for this particular cat, wcw. :oops::rolleyes:o_O:giggle:

I do not know what, but it seems like it's time to try something else,
rather than a larger squirt bottle...:LOL::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Or else you might need a water hose and spicket, instead! :geek:

Perhaps a sprinkler system that is motion-activated? :giggle::love:

I have no suggestions for a dog who thinks he can drive a car.:sneaky:;):LOL:
 
The pennies in the tin can or steel mug didn't work for me. My sister-in-law uses a can of compressed air--buy in the computer cleaning supplies--she points it in the general direction of her dog's face--not too close--and he can feel a puff of air plus it makes a loud shooshing noise he doesn't like and he settles down. She swears by it.
 
Cats don't sleep much at night, they mostly play. I always dumped my cat's toy-box out onto the dining room floor on my way to bed. The floor would be clear in the morning because he spent most the night chasing them into the living room and stuffing them under the furniture. That's thirsty play, so I always left a bowl of water out for him too. He wouldn't pester me until about 5am, his breakfast time.

gonna try that. previous cat played at night but was contented to play alone. i'd find toys that had been in BR down-stairs in kitchen... split-level house.
 
Take a single sheet of newspaper. Roll it up very loosely; 2" o 3" diameter. It has no strength, but makes a lot of noise when you lightly hit something with it. When your cat does something bad start hitting him with it and continue until he stops the bad behavior. No hurt, a lot of noise, and he quickly learns that "he should not do what he had been doing." He learns about consequences...
