What do you want or desire but cannot have?

Going through the posts on this topic and thinking it over there is one more thing I'd like but not for me personally. I would wish for my girlfriend to have her sight back
Reminded me of an interview with Paul McCartney when he lost his first wife of 20 years. Someone commented on how nice it must be to have over 3 billion dollars & be able to buy anything.
He replied, "I can't buy the one thing I want the most - to have Linda back."

Oh I'm sure you're selling yourself short...
You're nice to say that  , but I'm not the only one who realizes that about me: when I was about 20, I took an aptitude test. When I went back to get the results I had one of those "you know you're in trouble when" experiences; the counselor starts off with, "Now I don't want you to get upset; you know these aptitude tests aren't really that accurate or helpful." Me: Oh, then why did you enthusiastically recommend me taking it? Her: Oh, well, uh, uh; well, anyway, the results are that you should either get married or join the army since you don't show an aptitude for anything.

And I joined the army 🤣🤣🤣, same boat, rowing slowly 😍

Some of the most talented people on earth were told at school they would amount to nothing...I believe in you..I don't believe in aptitude tests..

Having gone through such a dismal life, I always wish I could have had a crystal ball which foretold the future and let me know what to avoid. As a young kid I wanted to do law work after having been inspired by the Eichmann trials in 1961. After years of struggling with work, college, and law school thereafter for a total of 20 years (by the way, I am partly learning disabled so school was a real struggle though I was an honor student) the only remunerative job I got was working in maintenance.

Always thought I was going to live the high life but only managed to reach a point where I survive on Social Security, SNAP, and subsidized public housing.

The only other thing I'd ever want would be a wealthy heiress who came with a generous dowry. This so that my existence shouldn't be a total loss after all ;)

What do you mean when you say learning disabled ?..do you mean dyslexic or something else ?

Dyslexia is one such problem and also visual-spatial deficiency with inability to identify items or recognize people or their names even when I've met them several times. This is too difficult a subject to explain in this type of format. This does not mean that I cannot learn. Only that I often have to read and re-read certain topics before I can fully understand them.

This was a real problem in law school. However, at the end of a semester, I would analyze and summarize all we learned in what we called an "outline". When I wrote out a course outline many of my classmates would line up to get a copy because my analytical summaries were often far better than those of our top student classmates. This because despite my learning disabilities, I have a very high IQ. Too bad, however, that all this education and sacrifice ultimately resulted in a total waste of time and money.

I am dyslexia as well. Resulted in me failing every spelling test I ever took, being beaten for failing those spelling tests, and, gee, I still can’t spell. But, walking back and forth to school uphill both ways as a further punishment, resulted in my realizing that nothing was going to allow me to learn to spell. I was not stupid, I just could not spell.

Everything
@hollydolly I apologize I did not realize the question was exclusive for gennie, had I realized that I still would have replied 😂, but I would have said ”not speaking for gennie, but I would do everything over” or something to that effect so to clarify if I had a choice I would have never been born, but having been born, if I had a choice, I would have a complete do over from birth or whatever age a do over would start. Not speaking for gennie, of course.

It would be helpful for chatty people like me if, next time you do not want me to reply to something just put, hmm, in bold, Aneeda72 do not reply to this I am not asking you. I can’t promise I won’t reply cause I probably will, but at least I can frame my reply differently. 😍
