Social Security SCAM

Over the past six weeks, I've gotten about 5 calls stating that there is legal action against my S.S. number. It's a scam. I checked into it. I did NOT do as the call stated. After I investigated the first call, I simply blocked the number when they called again. They have several numbers that they call from, so I had to block 3 calls before they finally stopped calling.

"The Social Security Administration will never call you and threaten you with arrest or any other kind of legal action. You should just hang up the phone on anyone who makes those statements. If you worry a call you received could be legitimate, you can call that office directly. The number to the SSA is 1-800-772-1213."
Here’s how to make those bogus social security calls stop

I keep getting ones about some car warranty that I don't even possess. LOL
I get those, also. I never blocked a caller until the S.S. thing started. But, I'm going to start using it more often for all of these type of calls. I added my number to a "Do not call" registry, but these type of calls seem to find a way to get through to us.

i'm not sure that registry even works anymore. i re-registered mine and i still get one or more fraud calls a day. it ticks me off. sometimes depending on my mood i will flip the phone open and not say anything...if i get a human sometimes i will go off on them. just because.

I have had many cars over the years..new and used so some did have warranties...I think used is the smarter way to go!! I was once young and foolish 😃
i am always glad i don't have new when i see the marks where someone hit them in a parking lot. that would send me through the roof. if i had $20,000 car with a broken tail light i'd have a meltdown.

So you say you are scamming yourself? I'm impressed.
It is called spoofing. Email origination addresses can also be spoofed, which is why I often wonder why scam emails always contain origination addresses that have nothing to do with who the email is supposed to be from. Since when does an "official" Wells Fargo email come from Joe.Schmoe@gmail.com? :ROFLMAO:

Real hackers don't bother with "small potatoes" such as an individual with phone or email scams. They are behind the scenes hacking the good stuff with high yields.

I got that call yesterday as well,I usually don't pick up the phone if I don't recognize the # but didin't have my glasses on.
Its too bad some people actually believe this scam

SS does not call! a while ago, in one week, i got calls from a "special agent"... wait a minuts, that may have been the IRS SCAM... they don't call either. unless i know the number, i NEVER answer the phone, period! if i don't recognize the number and the call is important, the caller will leave a message.

those "special agents"... first was from "special agent steve martin"... well, excuuuuuuse me!... arrow thru head and banjo twanging. the 2nd call was from "special agent raymond burr"

I usually get the car warranty one, as well as the SS one. Had to have a serious sit down with a cousin. He is in his 50s, but has some learning challenges. He is easily taken in by this stuff, and I had to talk with him to NOT respond or give personal information. That there is NO crisis, and he will NOT get arrested, etc.

The only legitimate calls and emails are:

1. The person in Nigeria that wants to transfer a billion dollars into your bank account.
2. The communication that you won a lottery in a foreign country.

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I've gotten a few of those calls too.

I love them!!!

Why?

Because it gives me a chance to waste a few minutes of their time by giving them fake information.

First I act very concerned when the operator comes on the line. I act like I have totally bought into the scam. Then, when he asks, I give them a fake name. They always buy it because they have no idea who they are talking to.

Then, and this is the fun part, when they ask me to confirm my SSN, I tell them.... 123-45-6789.

They hang up immediately!!!!

🤣
