If they had the shot and wasn't having symptoms why would be get tested?

30% of COVID 'breakthough' patients show no symptoms, CDC says

About 6,000 of 84 million Americans have gotten infected with COVID after full vaccination, the CDC says -- a rate of 0.007%.

About 0.007% of Americans who have been fully vaccinated from COVID-19 have become infected with the disease afterward, the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Monday.

Dr. Rochelle Walensky said 84 million Americans have now been fully vaccinated. Of those, about 6,000 have become infected afterward -- what are known as breakthrough cases. Walensky added that the vaccine has also been shown to reduce the severity of symptoms, noting that 30% of fully vaccinated people who tested positive showed no symptoms. The CDC said last week that fewer than 400 fully vaccinated people were hospitalized and 74 died.

Walensky used the numbers to drive home a point.
"The more people get vaccinated, the fewer infections there will be, which means fewer variants will emerge and fewer breakthrough infections will occur and the quicker we can get back to doing the things we love," Walensky said.
In January, 67% of adult Americans were willing to get vaccinated or had already received at least one shot. The figure has climbed to 75%, according to the latest AP-NORC poll.
Walensky admits the numbers, which come from 43 states and territories, are likely an underestimate.

At least half of all adults and 80% of seniors have received at least one dose of the vaccine, according to the CDC. One-quarter of the total population, one-third of adults and 65% of seniors are fully vaccinated. The U.S. announced Monday that all adults are now eligible to get the vaccine.

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require two doses given weeks apart for a recipient to be fully vaccinated. Johnson & Johnson's vaccine requires one dose, but the distribution of that vaccine has been paused while health officials investigate potentially dangerous blood clots that showed up in six out of the nearly 7 million people who got the shot, and whether the vaccine played a role. One person died.

I'm not following the story and I don't claim to know, but I can make a guess why someone would be tested after being vaccinated. A few possibilities are: post vac follow-up studies, people who are known to have been in contact with infected individuals, or people who are being treated for some other issue where a covid test is now a standard procedure.

My daughter and DIL, both teachers, must be tested every week despite having been fully vaccinated. Same with my son who is a TV field producer.

Situations like theirs are probably the sources of a lot of the asymptomatic breakthrough statistics.
That makes sense.

One of our granddaughters is a nurse in a nearby hospital.....she, and her co-workers have to get tested frequently....symptoms, or not.
Yes but are they all vaccinated? That was my question, if vaccinated and having no symptoms, why be tested. StarSong gave answer.

Yes, she and all hospital personnel were vaccinated shortly after the vaccines became available.....in our State, they are considered "essential workers" and were some of the first to have access to the vaccines.
