How to mail large sheets of paper

I have an interested buyer for some loose sketches and drawings I have. They are on paper, the largest size is 18 by 12 inches (46 by 30 cm). I looked online at flat rate shipping containers and none even come close to the size I need. I don't want to foild them, either. Any suggestions?

Just kidding, Deb. Or an office supply like Staples.

You can use an A4 envelope, (or larger) and to stiffen & protect the sketches, use the cardboard from an empty cereal carton. Just cut it to size to help it protect your drawing, however, it might increase your postal charge.

I was thinking tubes, also, but I doubt the local PO has them. I'll have to inquire on Monday. Maybe they can order them.
They have this style in my local PO and a few traditional tubes in a rack of odds and ends in the lobby.

You might be able to get by with one of these boxes, or a traditional cardboard box, and roll the papers around a section of wrapping paper tube or a paper towel tube.

You could also try an office supply store like Staples.

I was think a flat rate container - doesn't matter much how heavy - pay one fee and it's traceable and insured, too.
If you send it in the regular US mail like priority flat rate, the only insurance value it will have will be the price of materials in it. If you sold a drawing for $100, and it was on a piece of paper that retailed for 1.00 you would get the dollar-- if they would pay it at all.

I believe at this point in time all packages sent through the post awful (sic) are given tracking numbers.

One final tip: Anything you send through the mail that you don't want damaged, pack it so it CAN'T be damaged.

Call your local UPS store. Describe what you want done and either ask them how to do it or what it would cost to have them pack and ship. If you decide to go with them, have the buyer pay the shipping charge. ( of course my local UPS store is really excellent.)
