The Way Younger Women Dress Today

Low-cut tops (some really low)
Short skirts
HIGH heels

I think about how some celeb ladies look on the Red Carpet at an Awards Ceremony. Almost completely transparent dresses and some extremely low-cut dresses. Some body parts really showing "all over the place".
Wife and I have gone to Wal Mart and seen ladies that look like they just stepped off of a High-Style Fashion Runway! I mean, this is Wal Mart, not some high-scale restaurant in New York!
I've heard that some women dress this way because of all the money and time they've put into their bodies.........as in, implants or fitness center.

When my wife and I go out on our boat, no bikini for her. Regular shorts, tennis shoes and a nice pull-over top. She also likes to wear a baseball cap and that's fine with me.

Your thoughts about how young, and some older, women dress today.

I rarely see a woman in a skirt and high heels.

Over here it's all tracksuit bottoms or slacks, and trainers.

Most )though there are many exceptions) do not have the inclination to pay any heed to their femininity at all.

Their choice, of course, but still disappointing!

You can't generalise like that laurie..it may be where you live in Fife, but it's not that way where I live on the outskirts of London..most in this village either dresses in smart business clothing or in smart casual clothing...not many sloppy joes around here..

Maybe depends on locale and weather - in Toronto, especially in today's snowstorm - we see parkas and hats and boots with pants and sweaters underneath. No skimpy dresses in this weather! Summers, I don't haven't noticed anything riske - Girls and women are in tastefully casual, or casual business attire. Different places and different income status have their on standards.

Sounds like the sort of clothes I wore in the 1960s. ;)

I'm with you Pam - if I had the body now that I had then - no hesitation - bikinis and short skirts and low tops it would be! - except sandals instead of high heels.

Reminds me of the old days, when we were first married. Height of the miniskirt era-1967- and I was a senior in high school when we got married. Hubby was 19 and a little jealous. Before school in the mornings,he would have me raise my arms to make sure my dress wasn`t too short. I always wore tights under anyway-no big deal LOL. I`ve never been one for high heels or low cut tops though.

Sorry. You'rte right of, of course. It's a long time since I was down south.

My remarks were based mainly on vox pops on the TV news channels, which come from all over.

I had no idea they were from untypical areas, and there are not lots of people in these sorts of clothes, along with Hindu and Muslim dress.

Well can I remember miniskirts. I had rather good legs back in the day and I wasn't shy about wearing something that showed them off. The biggest problem was staying warm in the northern winters and the complicated maneuvers one had to do in order to pick up something from the floor. You couldn't bend over, you couldn't squat. You had to perform a gravity-defying act that combined the worst aspects of bending over, squatting and a Victorian-esque curtsey. Good thing I was young. I'd dislocate something if I tried that today and, besides, nobody wants to see my thighs.

The young ladies I see wearing short skirts, high heels, or Spandex type yoga pants... shouldn't be.
The young ladies I see wearing sweats and flannel shirts should be wearing short skirts, high heels, or Spandex type yoga pants.
Shouldn't there be a panel of "gentlemen" assembled in the ladies wear department of stores to rule on who wears what?:D

I bought a bikini for this trip to Thailand. Not that I have a hot flat belly bod, but do have a wee belly and don't have skinny thighs. The only reason I'm not wearing a one piece is because I noticed on our trip here early in the year that the only ladies not wearing bikinis were myself, and my two sisters in law. No matter what body, what age, women here all wear bikinis. I find it more comfortable than a one piece as well and it's really very freeing to know nobody cares if I've got a stick thin bikini body.

I agree Cookie. Where I live most women look smart , a mixture of skirts/dresses/ business suits and casual, rarely see anyone in a tracksuit.
