Are the days of being MRS. Johnathon Doe going away?

A while back, I decided to find my 1964 grad. classmates. The guys were easy. But how do you find about my female classmates? When a woman married, her name literally was " The wife of John Doe". And that got me thinking. "Women's Lib" is pretty much passé. I wonder if when Jane Doe marries me, will she want to become Mrs. Fuzzybuddy? I'm not Mr. Doe. In these days of equality, we get "Jane Doe Fuzzybuddy", we've lost the "Mrs." I'm a guy, and a traditionalist-I like the woman taking the guy's name, but what do think women's names are going in the future?

Oh dear fuzzybuddy, do you not know? She might take your name, but that's simply a ploy, it gives you a warm glow that the lady on your arm, the lady that produces your children, is so in love with you.............

Let me wise you up. Women and cats will do as they please. Men and dogs had just better get used to it and life will go on.

I have the name I was born with, and have been happily married for 45 yrs. I don't need anybody else's name, thanks. I would not be your "little woman" - any more than you would be my "little man".

Women's Liberation is NOT passe. I personally have never understood why any one of any sex would want someone hanging around their neck like an albatross, needing to be told what to do, where to go, how to dress or even think.

Incompetence, whether assumed or genuine, is neither sexy, nor humorous, nor attractive.

Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. But a relationship based on inequality benefits neither person.

The best marriages are equal partnerships. Otherwise, why even bother?

I've looked up former school chums on classmates>dot<com (hopefully there are other websites cuz that one spams like crazy) and all the females were listed with their maiden names in parentheses.

Did you try looking up the school + "class of ___" ?

Not only are you fashionable....your sensible! LOL :ROFLMAO:

I had a fellow worker whose husband took HER last name when she married. He had older brothers who had sons, but she was an only child. Her family name was at its end.

It was traditional in wealthy European families for an incoming son-in-law to agree to take his wife's name, especially if he was of a lower social strata. Thay way, any heirs to the estate would carry the "proper" surname.

Well said! I never wanted to have a woman that was child-like and dependent...always wanted an equal partnership.
