Former outback grazier Dexter Kruger becomes Autralia’s oldest man, marking 111 years ad 124 days.
Mr Kruger's 74-year-old son Greg said his father's simple lifestyle and balanced diet, complete with "plenty of salt, sugar and fat", had a lot to do with his age......

I suspect this man led a peaceful life on his farm, eating what he grew in his vege garden and orchard. I also suspect that compared to today's everyday stress, he would have died well before his 111 years. What do you think?

I agree with you.

..it also could be that he had enough money never to stress about how to pay bills or raise his children....

It's probably a combination of many things. Stability is very underrated when assessing why someone lives a super long time. I saw a guy who was 106 years old who lived in the same house his whole life. It was a nice one too with a lovely yards etc. For that kind of stability alone, I did envy him and was not surprised at all by his length of years.

..and there was yet another 100 + woman who was asked, and she said she put it down to never having eaten a piece of fruit or vegetable in her life!!

It's just luck really , isn't it ?

It's true, good genetics play the number one role in longevity, with lifestyle and habits curtailing how one embraces good genes.
I think so, too. Inherit healthy organs, blood, and bones and you could be around for 100 years or so.
But environment is a big factor, too. Taking a nice deep breath in central Los Angeles could knock a good year off your lifespan.

That's amazing Holly, no fruit and vegies seem so important to me, that's quite a statement.

yes, I know , and I have no idea if it's true, I just watched her say it either on TV or Youtube, some time ago.. I tried finding it with no luck ..but that said, I'm sure people can live on Junk food...and many do.. I think it was just a surprise that she managed to live so long.

Also I remember another 100 year old put his long life down to smoking 5 cigs a day and a glass of whisky !! 🤷‍♀️

Do you prefer longevity or quality of life?
Oh, Good heavens! QUALITY OF LIFE!!!
Death is such a little thing! People are so afraid of death and all it is is a passing into another more evolved, more real life.
In a society of a higher consciousness, death would be celebrated, not mourned. it's a beautiful part of the movement of the soul.
