I May Have POTS

I read a lot of what's on that link--looks like a difficult thing to diagnose and have. I see nutrition and exercise can help it. I think we all can benefit from more of exercise, like something we have liked to do in the past. I hope you can get some good help for this.

Check the symptoms in the article. Sounds much like what I've been experiencing the last several weeks.

:( ((((Deb)))) That's one of those issues that a lot of doctors don't like to deal with because they can't throw a pill at it. Are you staying well-hydrated? I used to have orthostatic hypotension episodes and increased migraine frequency if I got the slightest bit dehydrated.

I hope you can find a knowledgeable practitioner. I'm understanding better your frustration in your thread about physicians who don't consider all symptoms at one visit. Have you checked to see if there are support groups in your area that could recommend a practitioner? Maybe a POTS forum could help you find a doctor. I'd pursue finding someone promptly since its a recent change and there may be other more serious issues to rule out.

Hope you are able to find help. That symptom cluster is tough to deal with.

It could be but my armchair diagnosis would be a form of depression.

Don't speculate make an appointment with your PCP to discuss your symptoms.

Ask your PCP for a referral to a specialist that is trained to diagnose your symptoms.

What about...
  • Exercise?
  • Diet?
  • Sleep?
  • Weight?
  • Blood sugar level?
I don't put sweetener of any type in my tea.

Exercise - what's that?
Diet - heavy on the carbs, but nothing new there.
Sleep - like a rock When I turn of the bedroom light, I'm asleep before the room goes dark.
weight - yes (BMI around 34)
blood sugar - borderline diabetic the last 3 years

Daily exercise is proven to improve ones health both from the standpoint of physical health as well as mental health.

As for you being borderline diabetic, my guess is that's a big contributing factor as to the lack of energy you have and always battling fatigue.

"Get moving and keep moving", is the saying here in Canada. It's a medical fact that a sedentary lifestyle shortens ones lifespan considerably, as does a poor diet.

Unless you're physically active (and I do mean active), eating too many carbs elevates your blood sugar, causing your body to have short bursts of energy and eventually leading to a “crash” or feeling of exhaustion and tiredness.

Deb, have you checked your blood pressure? You can buy a pressure monitor so you can measure it regularly. A wise investment, imo.

If you continue on the path of high carbs, you'll become a diabetic sooner than later, Deb.

I have one but it's difficult to take my own. I have trouble wrapping the cuff around my arm.
That makes sense.

Mine can just be loosened so the arm is slipped into it and then cinched tight.

I also have a wrist one. Surprisingly, it reads fairly accurately. Picked it up at a clearance sale so wasn’t sure.
