I like watching Thriller,Action movies, recently downloaded and watched "Wrath of man" with Jason Statham, in the first 5 minutes or so the F word was used at least 20 times, and later on the C word was thrown in for good measure, why do film makers these days think this is necessary, spoils the movie for me,even more so if watching in mixed company!☹️☹️☹️

Kburra, I know what you mean...I hate that! I love Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson but when I tried to watch the Baywatch (movie) remake, same thing with the cursing so I was done after 5 minutes. I've done that with several movies and so called great T.V. shows that I had been looking forward to watching.

I don't know why the writers feel they have to use that kind of language in every sentence (or every other) to make a good script. What's further disparaging is that the public feeds into it and apparently supports it. To me, it's insulting and it diminishes the value of the content. That kind of movie makes me wonder if so much cursing is to conceal the lack of talent the writers have.

Like anything as soon as it becomes common place it loses its' impact. I watched the first few minutes of a British movie recently until the F word came up about every 10 seconds and I changed the channel. It is the same as a magazine with no valuable writing so they insert nude photos.
If you compare today's roasts of celebrities against the ones say 30 years ago today's are as raunchy as they can get. It's a sad comment on today's society.

yes , hubs and i seen that movie too, we were shocked but sucked it up as it was a really good movie story and luckily in the second half of the movie ,,they finally all calmed down.. that is the first time we saw a movie with so many F words used.. we also felt that kind of language was just so unnecessary ,,

I used to tell my girls if they used the F word they were fined $5..They didn't use it at home after that, but since they moved out they do. I have almost gotten used to hearing the word because it is so commonplace..though I still do not use it or like hearing it used. I think in my entire life I have only used it about 4 times and only for effect to those who knew me and to send them the message that I was REALLY upset 😀

Excessive profanity and vulgarity as well as their too common acceptance is part of the widespread desensitization and coarsening of society generally. It's a cancer which grows, a virus which destructively spreads. Parents are horrified if they are called to school because of their kids using unacceptable language. "Where did you learn such talk?!," they may fume. Well, chances are that they learned it from Mom and Dad, or the shows and movies that they watch...

When I was very young, I had heard the "F" word spoken and asked my mother what it meant. True story. She a surprized and somewhat embarrased look, but never told me.

I never watch new movies. Actually, I hate them. I buy DVDs from Amazon and watch those great old TV shows: Gunsmoke, Hawaii Five-O, Wagon Train, Kojak, Streets of San Francisco. No need to watch Hollywood garbage. Terrible, violent movies with swearing just encourages more gun violence, domestic violence, disrepect for women and more hate. When we watch all this new garbage, we are just encouraging negative things in our society.

Oh, where have all the young men gone? Gone to graveyards everyone. When will they ever learn? Oh, when will they ever learn?

They maybe not know how to add impact to the
situation with using a lot of words and they don't
want that, so they revert to crudities, without realising
that they are being offensive.

Mike.

I haven't seen that movie, but cursing in movies is not new and if the scene and characters call for it, it's okay with me, not a big deal. You won't get through real life or entertainment shows without hearing a few F-bombs dropped, those bombs don't kill anyone. ;)

My mother told me years ago that a person who uses swear words does so because they're too ignorant to know the correct word for what they want to say.
they're not ignorant. people just pick up bad habits sometimes. doesn't make them stupid.
