I heard that he died from lung cancer. He is perhaps best known for singing " Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head" on the movie soundtrack of 'Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid.'

I remember him well. He had some hits in the late sixties.

I saw him here in Pennsylvania about 15 years ago. He looked terrible. Like he had just come off of a drug or alcohol binge. Whatever he was on didn't effect his singing. He was good on that night. Someone at the same concert said that he was trying to make a comeback.

I saw him perform in 1975 at a small club in Los Angeles. He looked strung out but his voice and performance were flawless. I was a big fan of his music. "Hooked on a Feeling" was my favorite, but he also had a lot of great tunes on albums that never hit the charts.

He could have had a serious illness and been on meds for that, too. Just sayin.

Probably not. He acknowledged his battle with substance abuse many times. When I saw him he was definitely strung out. Also, he went backstage during an encore break and returned a few minutes later in better condition.

I have a friend who has spent a lifetime battling alcoholism. Addictions are such a terrible disease, they shorten many lives and destroy entire families. I'm glad BJ Thomas eventually got his under control.
