Including surgeries! She had been doing this to her daughter since she was 2 years old.
I can't believe doctors would be so incompetent not to see what was going on FOR 4 YEARS.
This is a textbook case of "Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy." And I'm no Doctor.
Munchausen syndrome by proxy (MSBP) is a mental health problem in which a caregiver makes up or causes an illness or injury in a person under his or her care, such as a child, an elderly adult, or a person who has a disability. Because vulnerable people are the victims, MSBP is a form of child abuse or elder abuse.
It is often committed to gain sympathy & a craving for attention. What creates more sympathy than a mother with a sick child?
For some reason, it's almost always the mother that does this. I've never heard of a father involved.

Sadly, you see this often. Two other cases that come to mind are the case of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a well known case as she was a victim of it, and was arrested for having her boyfriend murder her mother Dee Dee Blanchard. The made for Hulu series The Act doccuments this case. Another I remember was the murder of Garnett Spears by his mom Lacey, found to be Munchausens as well

I've read where this mother would demand a second opinion w/a lot of her visits. So, that prob is where/when/why all these various doctors come in to play.

I'm not a mother, but I can't see what pleasure you would get having to watch your child go through all these medical tests. Poking and prodding. :(

She wants the attention a sick child brings including pity, sympathy etc. Makes her the center of attention, not the child since they can't speak for themselves.
