Are there any people here who have used online medical consultations?

I want to ask for advice. Why do many people not switch to the online format of medical consultations (on the Internet)? It's convenient. I read that I can even order tests at home. But in this case, why is not everyone using online medicine yet? What is stopping you personally, what are the barriers? Personally, I am concerned that it is not used by a large number of people.

I have talked several times to my VA doctor online. It is so convenient to do this.
But why only several times? What didn't you like and why didn't you decide to switch completely to the online format?

Welcome to the forum by the way.
There are times online won’t cut it. It’s easy to fill refills and such, but there are times I need the one on one contact.
Thank you!
And what does online not cope with? I feel the same way about one-on-one contact, but I've heard that there seems to be no difference. Can people communicate one-on-one online, or is the problem something else?

Before scheduled 6 months exams, I appear in person for blood work. At the scheduled exam my blood pressure is taken, heart rate checked and some poking and tapping done. Personally, I like the human interaction and think online is too sterile and impersonal. I don't see how all that can be done online, but I can communicate by email or renew medications as needed.

I miss the personal contact in phone or computer visits. It is more convenient because I don't have to drive to the clinic to see the doctor. However, the phone can't be used for eye or dental exams or X-rays for injuries.

And how did you come up with the idea to use such online services? And where did you learn about such services?
Personally, this is something new for me, I saw intrusive ads on Facebook, but it seems to me that online doctors can easily deceive and prescribe extra expensive tests. Weren't you afraid of such moments?

Most of my medical consultations are now through telemedicine. Some are by phone and some are through Zoom and the like. I find it marvelous. I don't need to travel both way and then wait my turn. The only ones I do in person are those which require a hands-on consultation.

I ask my doctors if I can use telemedicine. Most will do them.

I've used it and I liked it. My doctor's office has an RN on staff who takes these calls since the doctor is booked up all day. If the call is about something the doctor wants to talk to me about, the RN has her call back asap.

I was stung by a scorpion a few times. It crawled up my jeans while I was working outside and stung me in the back of my knee and my thigh. Fortunately, I was able to scoop the scorpion up into a jar so I could show it to the nurse. She told me it wasn't dangerously venomous and what symptoms to watch for, etc. If not for "telemed" I'd have probably gone to hospital emergency or an urgent care clinic. Instead, I took the afternoon off to relax and watch for symptoms.

Are there any things you don't like about telemedicine?

I had no choice. My doctors are all with Health Partners and, since the Pandemic, I have had no choice. That is their ruIe. I think most other hospitals and clinics in Minnesota do the same.

It turns out that you used the services of telemedicine only those clinics and doctors with whom you were previously familiar? Have you tried to use the services of other clinics that provide telemedicine services? If not, what would convince you to use telemedicine services from other clinic?
I don't see the difference between clinics that provide telemedicine services, but I always want to hear a second opinion from another doctor in other clinic.

And did you have any doubts that the online format would not reveal the problem?

What was the clinic or company that provides telemedicine services and why did you choose it?
Almost all of my doctors have been doing it. They started when Medicare allowed it because of COVID. I just asked each of them.
