Tower fans... anyone own one? Have recommendations?

We have central-air in our home and it keeps our home nice and cool, but once night falls and the home cools to where the central-air no longer kicks in, the bedroom can feel warm and stuffy, so we're looking at getting a tower fan with a filter system built-in.

The Dyson looks perfect (a dream really), but not for $600 (plus) dollars.

Unfortunately no, there is a limit on most single unit systems we learned, where if you set the thermostat lower than 19°C, the condenser unit will freeze up which can lead to the condenser unit burning up.

We originally had a dehumidifier in the home when we moved in, but pulled it out. It was bulky and wasn't at all efficient.

I think having the air moving in the bedroom will help provide a chill effect.

I agree, that might be all you need.
Myself, I have a small window air conditioner,
but I often run it on the option of Fan Only, which is quite comfortable,
and I have also, at some times, had only a fan, which made a pleasant difference.

We were thinking the same, set the sleep mode of the fan to run for 2-3 hours, which would keep the air circulating in the room and move more fresh air around courtesy of the open window.
 
I'll watch this thread for some recommendations if they come in. I have central air, in an upstairs apartment. Gratefully morning sun, not afternoon sun. I have considered a fan in front of the window to pull cool air in but it would have to be bladeless or very well protected because my tabby is interested in and gets into everything.

It was nice and unexpectedly cool early this AM but it's warming up and we have a heat wave coming. Which I guess is the new normal. :(
 
We have fans all over the house, as A/C is only needed at certain times.

I can tell you that much as I hate paying for them, Vornado simply makes the best fans, period. They move the most air, and are quieter, than any others. Nothing else even comes close. Honeywell, Lasko - all are crap compared to the Vornados.

Oddly, an inexpensive window fan I bought is very good - at least the small 8" one I've got. It's from Woozoo, a brand I bought from Amazon.
 
We have a Lasko 48 inch tower fan. It has a remote and an Ionizer and can be programmed. It's a great fan but has one weakness, and that's the little motor that makes it rotate back and forth. It wore out after 4 years. The shaft has a side load that the motor wasn't designed for and the bearing wears out. I've replaced it a couple times. A spare on Ebay is about $12 from China.

It collects a lot of dirt. I blow it out every few months. My wife loves the fan, so I keep it going. Even with central air, it's sometimes nice to have a little extra air movement.
