Although this hasn't been a record setting year for police officers being killed in the line of duty, it hasn't be a good year either. Even one officer being killed is too many. He is a Father of six. How sorrowful.

It's a terrible thing when law and order breaks down on so many fronts! My condolences to these policemen's families and families everywhere who've lost loved ones this past year and especially just before Christmas which is supposed to be a time of family, love and laughter. So sad.
 
A couple of weeks ago, during the height of this Ferguson, MO. nonsense, I did some searching on the Internet, and found that so far, in 2014, 107 police had lost their lives while on duty....Half of them in shootings and assaults by criminals. It is no wonder that the police are often having to confront such situations with extreme measures.

If I were a policeman, and received a call of another shooting in a high crime area, I would take the long way around, and probably stop for coffee along the way. When confronted with a populace where " no one saw anything" and "No Snitching" is the policy, people who live this way have no one but themselves to blame for the Anarchy that consumes their communities.

There is a very easy way to avoid confrontations with the police....Obey the Laws, and act like a Civil Human Being if stopped by the police.

911---I am sorry that you and your fellow officers have to go through this, but I wouldn't want to live in a society without cops. I know a lot of cops are also killed in vehicle accidents while in pursuit and getting hit by other cars and trucks while standing at a speeder's window on his car. I never had a desire to be a cop, but it wasn't from being scared, I just always wanted to fly. I think you guys are more at risk now than ever before. It seems as though bad guys just are killing cops now for enjoyment. I guess from what I have read the Mayor of New York is not a popular person among cops right now. Some people are blaming some of this on Obama and Holder. I never heard anything that would make anyone feel that way, but when you are at the top, you get the blame for everything, good or bad.

Man, this officer in Florida had 6 children. That's just awful, senseless and cowardly.
