One of the "hottest" items, in recent months, have been catalytic converters. The precious metals in these converters can be worth hundreds of dollars at a scrap yard.

Someone with a small jack, and a battery powered reciprocating saw can steal a converter in just a minute or two. Anyone who parks their vehicle outdoors at night, in a quiet, unlit area, is at increasing risk of getting an unpleasant surprise in the morning.

Daughter is Director of Risk Management for a firm that employs 1,200 at her location. Pre-COVID, when all 1,200 were working on site, they had to hire a security firm for the parking lot. People were leaving work to go home, would start their cars, and someone had cut out the catalytic converter. Here in our community, almost ever week there is a police report of another firm or person having catalytic converters stolen. It's big business.........
 
i had the same car, in its entirety, stolen 4 times! got it back 3 of those times. last time, it went to 64 impala heaven, i guess.
