Canada News, Americans Who Faked Vaccine Docs Fined $16K Each

Two Americans who traveled to Canada using fake vaccine documents have been fined about $16,000 each. They also faked pre-departure COVID tests, and were cited for not complying with Canada's requirements for post-arrival testing and accommodations, Fox News reports. In order to travel to Canada, visitors must have a negative COVID test result before boarding the plane, and then must quarantine at an approved hotel in Canada until another test for COVID comes back negative, but the requirements are eased for fully vaccinated travelers, Canada's public health agency says.

Good...if people continue to downplay this virus, and try to circumvent the rules, they deserve some punishment. With all this crowding at the airports, and being stuck in a cramped airplane seat, for hours....not knowing anything about those around us...we've shelved any plans for air travel for the foreseeable future.

Seems to me that it would be a lot easier (and cheaper) to just get the (free) vaccine than to go to all the trouble of falsifying documents, etc. Why would you even do that, anyway? Just either take the covid tests and/or get the vaccine or stay home.

I doubt they will pay that fine. Once they skip back home Canada will not be able to collect. On the flip side they will not be able to enter Canada again.

I used to live in Windsor Ontario which shared a border with Detroit Michigan. It was common for American youth under the age of 21 to come to Canada to drink as the legal age was 19 here. Often fights resulted which required hospital care. I forget the number but the facts are few paid the hospital bill.

Exactly. Except we tend to forgive and will likely let them back in.

I couldn’t read the article. If they came for work, they might be able to negotiate a reduced fine.
