William Shatner reflects on 55 years of 'Star Trek' — and that controversial 'SNL' sketch

When Captain James T. Kirk originally set foot on the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise, his mission to explore the final frontier was only supposed to last five years. Instead, the Federation starship's pioneering voyage launched a fleet of Star Trek TV shows, movies and ancillary content that has endured for 55 years and counting.

Haven't watched the clip yet.
However, my DD and i are sitting here watching the Star Trek Day livestream event right now. Four generations of my family, starting with my Mom (we often watched together) thru my soon to be 13 yr old grandson have been Star Trek fans.

I've never been a Star Trek fan. But I like William Shatner in other movies & his guest-starring roles in "The Fugitive" and "The Twilight Zone."

When i was at University in my late 40s, i actually wrote a sociology paper titled "Real to Reel to Real" about how the real world influences fiction and how that fiction can then also influence, impact the real world.

Star Trek may have made Shatner famous and rich but the series ruined him as an actor. I say this because (coincidently) I just saw "Million Dollar Hospital" on YouTube 2 days ago, and ...... you're right! He was an excellent actor! But in Star Trek, he could have been replaced by a puppet parody and no one would have noticed.

The middle one is "not available in my country". Anyway, I'm going to watch the other two.

EDIT: Oh, they are only trailers.
They might be available on You Tube. I think the old "Twilight Zones" are available in full.

"A Family of Strangers" is an incredible true story; well worth the price of the DVD. Spectacular performance by Patty Duke.
