Profanity Written on Clothes Out in Public.

I went to Walmart today. Of coarse it was Walmart. A woman, 30's maybe, had a tank top on, on the back it stated "f**k major political figure" I'll keep that political figure nameless since this isn't what it's about.

I think it's in bad taste. I curse. I'm careful who I do it around. I don't want to offend people and of coarse Walmart has small children in there.

Thoughts?

We have jackasses here in town that drive around flying their "f**k B***n" and "T***p in 2024" flags from the pickup truck bed. Nice, I'd hate to be a parent telling a child about honor, respect and decency, and have to explain all that garbage they see 'adults' doing.

My brother likes to say, "If you keep your mouth shut, no one will know your stupid." The new movies and TV shows aren't much better. If you ask me, with the "continuous passing system in education today, we have raised up a generation of very stupid, ignorant and totally self-immersed generation. I'm sorry for those that still have some religious or moral sense of what is right and what is wrong. If you ask me, our society is in deep trouble and perhaps we are going "down the drain" as far as a place where I would love to live. Are we becoming something like "animal?" Snapping our teeth as our fellow creatures?

Good comments above.

Full disclosure and not making any excuses - I was/am guilty of using bad language - it was how a good many of us all talked in the oilfield and it became a bad habit - really second nature to me after 43 year.

Now that I am retired, I have reduced the use of foul language alot without realizing it. It's not all gone but has reduced a bunch.

I think a good bit of cussing when discussing was a poor way of dealing with the stresses and work place drama's and politics, deadlines, schedules and budgets, and very real frustrations, 7 days a week, 12 hours a day, Offshore, Oversea's, etc.

Similarly and interestingly - to me at least, - once I retired I quit the smoke and whiskey within a few weeks without thinking on it - I just lost the desire.
I had taken up smoking and drinking about 5 years before I retired - never before.... It coincided when I was moved into senior management and dealt with so much unethical and amoral behavior with megaoil corp.

It was a very bad way of dealing with stress.... duh !

Now I will have a glass or two of wine before and/or with dinner - but that's about it.

So easy and crystal clear to see all that now looking back from this life in retirement.

To be honest - when I think back on how I acted on some occasions - well not some of my proudest moments to be sure.

Retirement is wonderful and being nice and respectful to folks is a good thing.

There is a clothing company known as: French Connection, UK. They delight in emblazoning their clothing with FCUK. They argue that their acronym is nothing more than the initials of their company, along with the country to which they are selling. I don't know an acronym for Bullsh*t but that's what French Connection is.

The acronym might not spell the profanity exactly, (that's the whole idea) but it still has the same impact that the actually profanity would cause.

I won't buy any clothing bearing words or pictures of any description, I refuse to be a walking advert for a clothes manufacturer.
Anyone walking around with obscene words or pictures on their clothing have a 'screw loose'.

So, who or what do you blame for this obnoxious behaviour?

At one time a lot was blamed on computer games, but not today,
might it be because "Comedians" can't tell a story without swearing,
Movies/Films, I don't know when it happened, but they all seem to
have bad language in them, also some TV, Books, modern books are
no good it seems without bad words!

Or could it be the Parents, maybe peer pressure when young, the list
is endless, but I can't see a "Cure", for it.

Many years ago I worked in a bar and we had a "swear box", anybody,
customers and staff had to contribute between 10p and 50p, nobody
swore after that, unless, they had drunk too much alcohol, similar I don't
think would work today though.

Mike.

Almost all my t-shirts have some kind of advertising on them, but I can't seem to throw them out and buy plain t-shirts because they're still in good shape. Every morning I have to choose who I'm going to advertise for.
