Profanity Written on Clothes Out in Public.

Young people think swearing and profanity are cool, very cool. As do comedians. My generation also, but not to this extreme on t shirts. We had buttons and bumper stickers. Next, tattoos. Recent generations have seen language and dress decency lowered further. It cannot get much lower. Part of this is youth rebellion and folks who never grow out of it. No one wants to know their political and sexual preferences. They have an I dont care attitude.
I have a (city) Sucks t shirt.
 

Just my opinion. We all wear uniforms of one sort or another to show our individuality. Profanity in itself is used as an expletive for it's shock value. Tact and consideration of others it seems has gone by the wayside. Everyday for me is a test/lesson in patience, tolerance and humility. I get better with it as I go along but I am still a work in progress.

Lots. Being offended is a choice. You've got the "F" word and the "N" word. One is not an insult while the other is an intentional insult ....... unless your skin is the "right" colour in which case it's a term of endearment. So we choose to be insulted.

What does "N" mean? *****e and negger are legitimate words that in themselves are not racial insults, but negger (for example) sounds much like the "N" word (in English) and so it has been banned from use. That's crazy. Really crazy.

What does "F" mean? Nothing as far as I can see. I know a woman whose daughter died of sepsis not too long ago and so she had "F*u*c*k Sepsis" tattooed on her arm. Very unfortunately there was a misunderstanding and the fellow tattooed "F*u*c*k Cancer" by mistake. The wrong word was obliterated and now her tattoo reads simple "F*u*c*k". Personally, I think it's bad taste but it's not my arm.

The real cancer is PC mentality and if we teach our children to be offended by pop words then we are condemning them to a life of social misery. Breathe. Just breathe and stop being offended.

Yes, Nathan, I agree. I think "telling a child about honor, respect and decency" needs to be brought into the 21st. century. The "free world" isn't run by the church any longer. The "F" word means nothing. "Gay" means happy. Remaining seated isn't an insult to a flag or the country it is meant to represent. Breathe man, breathe.

I wonder, John. Lots of people are more concerned with words and expression but have no problem creating, instigating, supporting, and fighting illegal wars. You know, killing innocent men, women, and children is OK! :) But just don't swear while you're doing it. 😠

I speak 5 languages myself and I use them to communicate in the country/environment where they were developed. If I had worked in an oilfield I'd probably have learned that "language" too. Nothing wrong with that.

My work environment was ripe with profanity also. Even the women did it. There it was a regular way of communicating. I always though it was odd that I could turn it off outside of work without even thinking about it. Every once in a while one would slip through.

Yep, offense can only be taken, not given. Profanities on clothing or anything else that's in full view are just plain bad taste.

I do find it interesting that sometimes the person displaying such things, especially a tattoo, (in my experience), can appear to be offended just by one looking at it. I've got the growling, "What you looking at?" in the past. I thought that was the whole idea. Some of those tattoos are actually quite beautiful, but after that one-sided exchange, I now try to 'not' look.

LOL! That's the truth! The first time I saw a punk rocker (it was 1978, the beginning of that fad) with blue and green hair she told me exactly that, "What are you looking at!"
 
I wonder if yalls even know what **** stands for??? we all know people are lazy and police are no exception so after arresting a person for some sexual deviant thing they wrote in their logs 'for unlawful carnal knowledge' which took up way to much space so they shortened it to ****.......go figure..
