Do you converse with store clerks and business people?

Do you talk or comment on things with clerks where you shop at, or other workers
where you go? Retail, library, passers-by, people you sit next to, restaurants and other coincidental
situations? Living alone, I am more talkative than I was when younger, even if I suspect
that others are not so interested. EVeryone just transacts their business and leaves. I live alone
without conversation, at all, maybe that is why. Usually, people will answer me politely.

I do not live alone, I am not of a lonely disposition, BUT I like chatting to people everywhere. I like people. I always have my ipad mini with me and even make notes after the chats, good writing material.

When I do get out and go to Kroger I speak with the people I know. I know the lady at the CS desk and 2 of the checkers.

Yes, I do !!! Hubby tugs at me to hush up and at times pulls me out of an area where we're at in a store. I love to talk! The clerks at some stores already know me and hide when they see me coming in to the stores.

If no one is in a check out line behind me I will talk to the clerks. I would never start up a conversation in a restaurant unless they made eye contact first.

Sort of like most of the folks above. But I think people are much more open to conversing than they used to be and I think it’s a result of the confinement during the worst of the PD. The seniors I bump into especially, in lines, Dr offices, everywhere. We joke about “talking to strangers”. Heading to a coffee hour at a Sr Center and I know that’s what I’ll be doing.

All the time. Like to brighten their day if I can. At the cardio clinic at the VA yesterday, the lady doctor had a intern working with her. The doctor is always kidding around so I knew she wouldn’t be offended. Doc on one side, intern on the other, listening to my heart.
I said in 83 years I’ve never had a threesome. We all got laughing so hard it’s a wonder we accomplished anything. Oh, great check-up by the way.

Basically, just "hi" and "how are you?" If the other person goes further I will respond of course, but I don't initiate an actual conversation.

I live alone and I'm rather isolated. I don't feel like communications at work are very beneficial. I'm usually on edge at work. I work part time. I'm not very chatty. Sometimes at the small thrift stores a little bit with the volunteers.

Sure, if they are interested. I don't live alone, but still like talking to anyone, strangers included. I have also gotten braver about it as I get older.

No way can you be as talkative as one of my downstairs neighbors @PamfromTx !! .... she is a wonderful, sweet lady, but she doesn't know how to take a breath between sentences .... and once she has you cornered, you better be ready for a long one-way conversation ...lol
