Does your family Doctor make you take a Drug test?

Depending on what prescriptions you may be on that maybe a protocol, but I don't know at what level, ie, State, Local, or just the Hospital.
I get a prescription for Ambien and when it was time to get a new script I had to sign some paperwork that among other things would allow them to do a drug test. I think it's federal having something to do with people who shop for doctors. Going to several and getting a script filled with different dr's and pharmacies and then selling the drugs. This was my interpretation.

My first answer was going to be: No, he knows what I like:p. That didn't seem to be very helpful though...
 
You definitely need to have a doctor, ongoing and very quickly,
Robert, so you might have to go along with it.

Do you have coverage that will pay for it?
I wonder if insurance will pay for it, when it becomes repeated and ongoing,
and not necessarily directly needed for your illnesses and your care, but is needed in order for this doctor to accept you as a patient. I dont know the answer to that question.
They might pay it, for he is monitoring all the meds you take that way, and might actually have a benefit of getting you the best amounts for your individual needs.

If you cannot find another doctor very soon,
then I would think you do need to try this one, at least for now, to see how it goes for you in all other ways, for your serious ongoing medical conditions, having this new doctor.
Do you think he will be good, or okay, for those needs you do have?

I have United Health Care insurance.
 
They might pay for it, Robert.

I don't know for sure, but the doctor's office people should be able to tell you if you ask them.
They know how they bill it to the insurance company, and what the insurances usually will pay toward it, and if there is usually any left for the patient to pay for those tests.

And, if you can't get a different doctor lined up right away,
you might need to try this one, anyway.

You cannot have any interruption in any of your necessary, needed medical care.

And there could be many reasons why this doctor is requiring it.
He might need to. He might be good for your other needs, which seem more important to me.
There's a chance that you end up liking something else about this new doctor,
or even if he just does the things you most need a doctor to do for you.
 
Hello Robert 59 I am thinking that the doctor may be working with police agencies in the area to eliminate illegal drug usage. Which has its good side because if he knows you use drugs in the proper way the police are off of your back.
 
It sounds odd to me.

In my state I’m allowed to decline any sort of treatment, testing, or prescription that is offered.

The only thing I’m required to do is pay the insurance premiums and copays. 😊

I would have said the same Mike, because our Docs don't ask for drug tests.. but maybe in areas of the UK where there's a high illegal drug community, doctors might ask that of new patients.. I don't know, just a thought

Twice a year?! That sounds bizarre. And what is a "random pill count"?

Sounds odd. Did you/will you ask why they want this test and what the "random pill count" is about? What ... they guy's gonna come to your house to check your pill bottles (assuming you have any)?
 
I think random pill count, just means that they might check your meds, when you are there in the office, for your appointments.

They want you to bring all your meds with you, and so then, if they want to, they can check them to be certain their patients are taking them as prescribed, and not any other way.

It isn't that unusual or terrible, that they ask you to bring them with you, and that they can check the containers, if they want to.
And they are letting patients know beforehand, that they might do that.

Not that big a deal. Patients sometimes do make mistakes in how they are taking them, or they do develop med problems. This way, the doctors can monitor and keep up with any possible problems, if they happen.
They are dispensing lots of serious meds, and paying attention to the results of their scripts. Not terrible.

And worth it, if this doctor is helpful for his patient's medical conditions, and prescribes what Robert needs.

The drug tests, too, might become less often, later on, if the doctor sees they aren't needed, then. The doc might have multiple reasons for doing these things.

Again, it's more important for Robert to have a doctor, now and ongoing.
