My new doctor wants me to take a drug test twice a year. I been to many past doctors and never had to take a drug test till now. And this doctor wants to do a random pill count twice a year.
This doctor is looking for new patients right now and this might be the reason. I do live in a high illegal drug area.Strange, does the doctor not trust you to report what drugs you are taking?
I have never had a doc ask me to take a drug test.
Never have taken illegal drugs. The doctor said everybody must pay for the tests if your insurance doesn't pay.Doesn't seem like a way to attract new patients...
Any reason not to do it? I have never been asked, but if I was I wouldn't object, unless it cost me $
I will have to ask on first appointment day. This doctor is connected with St. Thomas hospital in Nashville Tennessee. What does the test cost? I have taken a few for employers, but never paid. I have taken a few illegal drugs, but apparently 30 years is long enough for them to dissipate, LOL!
Yup. Every test = a bill to Medicare. His practice is administering the test? If so, could this be a way of just padding the bill?
I have United Health Care insurance. You definitely need to have a doctor, ongoing and very quickly,
Robert, so you might have to go along with it.
Do you have coverage that will pay for it?
I wonder if insurance will pay for it, when it becomes repeated and ongoing,
and not necessarily directly needed for your illnesses and your care, but is needed in order for this doctor to accept you as a patient. I dont know the answer to that question.
They might pay it, for he is monitoring all the meds you take that way, and might actually have a benefit of getting you the best amounts for your individual needs.
If you cannot find another doctor very soon,
then I would think you do need to try this one, at least for now, to see how it goes for you in all other ways, for your serious ongoing medical conditions, having this new doctor.
Do you think he will be good, or okay, for those needs you do have?
I would have said the same Mike, because our Docs don't ask for drug tests.. but maybe in areas of the UK where there's a high illegal drug community, doctors might ask that of new patients.. I don't know, just a thoughtNot the done thing here unless you work for TFL,
Transport for London.
Your Doctor must need the money!
Mike.
Twice a year?! That sounds bizarre. And what is a "random pill count"?My new doctor wants me to take a drug test twice a year. I been to many past doctors and never had to take a drug test till now. And this doctor wants to do a random pill count twice a year.
I don't know what is a random pill count? In the paper work they sent me it said this.Twice a year?! That sounds bizarre. And what is a "random pill count"?
Sounds odd. Did you/will you ask why they want this test and what the "random pill count" is about? What ... they guy's gonna come to your house to check your pill bottles (assuming you have any)?I don't know what is a random pill count? In the paper work they sent me it said this.
