What “Hot” Item Did You Buy and No Longer Have?

Looking at FB Marketplace lately, it’s loaded with Instapots.

Over the years there’ve been bread makers, rice cookers, George Foreman grills, etc, etc. There’s some ’hot, have-to-have’ item every year.

What have you bought or been given and no longer use or have?

A SONY 50+1 CD player.

It was overly complicated and annoying to use. I ended up using it as an expensive radio.

It was my own fault, I allowed a baby faced salesman wearing his dad’s white shirt and necktie to upsell me. I should have never bought his spiel or the stereo.

I finally gave the thing to a young man that helped me move. I suppose it did eventually have some value to me. 😊

A digital Photo frame... It's supposed to show lots of photos on a rotating basis.. but in fact it just irritated the heck outta me ...so off to the Charity donation bag it went
Good to know. I was mulling over giving one as a gift.

Not George Foreman grill, but similar. I had to have it. Bought the waffle griddles, because I had to have them. Maybe made waffles three times. I now store it in the basement so it’ll get even less use. 🙃

oh, and I forgot about the thingy that looked like a lounge chair that you laid in and arched your back repeatedly. Can't remember what it was called but it didn't even make a good lawn chair and if you weren't careful, you couldn't get out of it without falling out.

I don't even want to talk about the "GRAVITY INVERTER" thing that you hung upside down from in Frankenstein boots. It was supposed to decompress your spine. It took a week to get my eyeballs back in my head. Now I know why my sister gave it to me.

Yeah, I was a real sucker for exercise equipment at one time but the only thing that lost weight was my bank account. My theory now, and I'm sticking to it, is "if God wanted for me to touch my toes, he would have put them on my knees!"

In 2004, I had partial knee surgery, bought an exercise fan bike which I used every other day.I had it for about 5 yrs.The pedals fell off ,could no longer ride it. I used it temporarily to dry my clothes after doing laundry. One day,I took it out by the curb in front of my apt building, when I came back from my walk,it was gone

I'm not sure it was a "hot" item... not in the U.S., anyway, but in the '90s I bought one of those Sony minidisc players. It was a good idea and worked well, but the masses didn't embrace the technology and Sony had all sorts of patents on it so other companies couldn't manufacture them without paying a bunch of money to Sony. In effect, Sony shot themselves in the foot, much like with the Betamax.

A pasta maker, fondue pot, and a punch bowl. I even bought extra cups to go with it.

A hammock type wicker swing. It was on a bungee cord and you were suppose to hang it from the ceiling or on a porch and it would gently swing.
I decided to hang it from a tree. I managed to get into the thing which wasn't easy it kept moving on me. I gave a push and it acted like a sling shot. I thought I was going to land on the roof.

I love my breadmaker and use it often. One thing I donated was an ice cream maker. It was the type you had to put the container in the freezer overnight before you could use it. I didn't have room to just let it stay in the freezer so it was never ready to go when I wanted to make ice cream. Plus what few times I did make some ice cream it just was not that great.
