What “Hot” Item Did You Buy and No Longer Have?

If you mean the Cross Country Skier, I bought one privately from a professional Motocross racer who got hurt & had to retire.
I ordered many parts from Nordic Trak & completely rebuilt it. I used it for 14 years, then replaced it with an elliptical, which was safer for me.
You and my sister are the only people I know of who use their exercise machines for their intended purpose.

When I was 19, I bought a bean bag chair. They were popular back then.
When I was that age I bought one, too. Most of my friends also had them. We were early in our independence so didn't have much money or furniture, bean bag chairs were inexpensive, and we were all still young and very spry.

When people a generation or two older visited they looked askance at the bean bag chairs and chose other seats.

I bought bean bag chairs for my kids when they were little. Eventually, one popped open. It was filled with tiny pebbles of styrofoam, which got all over the living room. It took forever to get them all up. When I was a kid, I think they were filled with little plastic balls.

Worse than the bean bag chair was the blow up couch. That was nearly 50 years ago when I was pregnant and we needed temporary furniture for just a few months. Fortunately even then I was very agile.

Just got rid of my Sony Walkman this year only because it no longer worked.
Maybe this was a hot item, maybe not but there were loads of informercials about it....The Jane Fonda Walk To the Music Fitness Tread(mill). Biggest waste of money ever! I wound up not returning it because sometimes it did work properly, but most of the time it "slipped".

It used to be the most heavily advertised item for Christmas would be most common at garage sales a couple of years later.

"Blow Up Couch?" That's a new one on me.
I've heard of a blow up bed (and a blow up autopilot), but I never heard of a blow up couch.
