Do you have a routine to your day?

My morning and evening routine stays the same. The daytime routine changes from day to day.

I get up at about the same time (between 5 and 6 am) no matter the day. Ron gets up before me so gets the coffee ready. I grab a cup and spend the next hour in my PJ's dealing with work emails/texts, work research as needed, and catching up on my social media sites (FB, Insta, here, several other forums I'm a member of or administrate.) While I'm doing that, Ron makes the bed, makes his own breakfast and lunch-to-go, and loads/organizes his work van.

I take my shower and dress for the day. What I wear changes depending on whether or not I'm working/if it's the weekend. Walk the dogs, cycle the laundry, and then make my breakfast, and my lunch-to-go. Take my morning supplements while I'm eating breakfast, feed the dogs their breakfast, and fold the laundry (Ron puts it away) At that point it's around 9.00 am and I'm ready for the day whatever it may bring.

Evenings, whether it's after a work day for us or an off day doing errands or working around the house or whatever, I walk the dogs again and feed them, change into my PJ's then we make cocktails or pour beers or wines, and spend an hour or so decompressing/relaxing, on the porch or around the fire pit when the weather permits. Then Ron takes his shower while I start dinner, or I change if we're going out to dinner. After we've eaten and I've taken my nighttime supplements, I take the dogs out one more time, we head to bed, Ron turns the TV on to his favorite shows and I read/play games on my phone/listen to an audio book.

What's your daily routine?

I get up, make coffee and look at the weather forecast (it's usually wrong). Mrs. L tends to read in the mornings and I read at night.
This acts as a sort of "literary contraceptive" :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Sometimes it's breakfast in bed, but usually not. Brekkies is usually cereal & toast (with marmalade). We don't use any social media, unless this counts, but I occasionally check for email. It's usually 'spam'.

What we do often depends on the weather. Good days are usually spent in the garden or off for a walk. Maybe even go to the beach and have an ice cream. Wet days are for housework and baking.

I cook dinner for around 7pm and then it's maybe watching TV and a glass of wine.

My routine does not vary much. Dog alarm clock gets me up around 7:00-7:30. Get to the kitchen and make coffee, turn on the TV and catch the headlines and weather then cut the sound off. Use my iPad to read email and other sites I follow daily. Fix the dog's breakfast, then mine which is usually an English muffin or bagel and continue to visit sites on the iPad. After eating I move to the den and read the local paper on the desktop computer and do any banking or other business. After that I make up the bed, get dressed and do any housekeeping chores needed. The rest of the day, if I don't have any appointments or shopping needs, is spent watching recorded tv programs, researching genealogy stuff, and picking up sticks and leaves from the yard. Sometimes I have a "project" going on - currently cleaning the garage and trying to get it better organized - and will spend a few hours daily on that until I finish or get tired of it. Once I decide what to prepare for dinner I get that done, fix the dog's dinner and then play Words With Friends or other games for a couple of hours while watching TV. The dog alarm clock also works in reverse and around 9:30 pm she is patting my leg with her paw letting me know it is bedtime. So I shower, get in bed and read for an hour or two and get to sleep. Weekends are usually a little slower. I prepare a bigger breakfast and spend the afternoons watching my football teams and find a movie to see in the evening. This may all change soon as I'm seriously considering returning to the gym next week though Covid is still dangerously high in my area. I'm fully vaccinated and have had my flu shot so I do feel relatively safe going back.

I get up and make a U-turn back to the bed usually. Sleep another hour and get up and go straight to the computer. I get up and plan the supper meal. Do some cleaning. Take a nice nap. lol Go back to computer. Start supper. Watch TV (Jeopardy). Go back to computer. In between all of this, I do take a nice shower. :ROFLMAO: Clean up kitchen.

I hate routine... I had enough of that when I worked.. but now since I retired I have no set routine.. . I cannot stand it , honestly,..

I do what I want when the mood takes me.. if I don't feel like making dinner I don't, if I want to vac the house twice in one day and not the next I will..lol

I come and go when the fancy takes me.. except for one day a week where I go to meet up with a ladies group ..

Not really but I'm thinking I need one....for at least part of the day. I've been thinking about creating a chore schedule. I had one for my son and me when he was a teenager. It worked like a charm and there was never a time when I was over taxed with housework because we kept up with it. Retirement has made me get lazy sometimes and I wind up paying for it later.

So do I!!! I had plenty of 'routine' while working. I'd get up at 5:30 a.m. to be ready to go to work at 7 a.m. for many years.

Threads like this one are just a little bit intrusive.
No matter, I'll tell you all about my first chore of the day.
This involves sitting on the toilet, no I won't give you the gory details of pooing, but I will let you all into a secret of a rare talent that I have.
I try to keep my buttocks clamped tight and gradually allow small amounts of wind to escape, the result is that I can perform an array of fine tunes, this morning I managed Clair de Lune. :)

My day isn’t routine, just the same boring things at the same time. Meals are co-ordinated around DH’s meds and exercises. This wouldn’t be so bad if there were a few interesting things to do some days. I’m in a funk.

What a visual ~ buttocks clamped tight. 🥴

Mornings (when ever that is) we have breakfast, then we sit he reads or plays games. I sit and play games. Then depending on when he got up I make lunch for him. Then we sit and he reads or watches TV or plays games. I do the same. More often than not we go out for dinner or bring dinner in from some fast food place. Then we sit and watch TV, or play games or do both. Then we go to bed usually by 11:00 PM, he goes to sleep I read for a while then go to sleep. That is the normal day. There are days that are different , like tomorrow i have an appt with my eye specialist in the city an hour and a half from here. So then I use that to shop at Costco, maybe hit the casino after. DH will stay at home, as he is uncomfortable sitting for so long. In summer oh Saturday we yard sale, again he only stays with our son and I to do the sales up here in our area, son and I do all the others in the surrounding areas.

I've always been a 'early bird' even when I was working. After I retired,it took me me 6-8 months not to get up 5:30am the 3 days I had to go to work When I go for my walks it all depends on the weather. The only time I don't venture outside is if its windy 35mph or higher/blizzard
My daily routine,I get up anywhere from 6:15- 6:40,get dressed, go outside before breakfast for my 1st walk of the day, just to get me going. As I'm eating breakfast, I ck my emails, then come here to find out what's happening. If I don't have any plans on any given day,I try to take a longer walk around 10:30,2-3 blocks or longer.Yesterday morning,I walked 6 blocks to local bank, continued for another block to Walgreens, walked home
After lunch/quick nap{15 min} I try to take afternoon walk, lately its been doing 'loops' around our apt complex I spend the rest of my day reading NYT,my book, playing games on my Smartphone, come here. After dinner,I read daily Bible offering from magazine called'Upper Room',then tackle the daily NYT crossword puzzle.I'll read one of my magazines I subscribe to or my book. I turn TV on around 9 to see what's on,usually go to bed around 11

I don't have a routine, or a schedule. For some reason I hate having both of those. It was no problem when I was working though. I had a morning routine to get ready, and a routine at work.

The only time I had a schedule was when I was homeschooling. That way we could fit all of our activities into the day and the kids knew what to expect. (I scheduled hours of playtime, too, because I think it is important for kids to have that). That schedule worked well.

I know having a schedule or routine would be a good thing, because it worked so well in the past. So I'm going to try it and resolve to have the self-discipline to last through the first day. It has to be a one day at a time thing, or it won't work because ... I am not self-disciplined enough.

After the initial surprise of waking up another day...

Actually, my routine consists of thinking about what I'm going to get done and then probably not doing it. Except on Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning. Those are the mornings that I work, so I get up at the obscene hour of 3 am in order to get to work at 4am. While I'm at work making hundreds and hundreds of biscuits (no, for our UK friends our biscuits aren't what y'all call our cookies!), I'm thinking about what I'll do when my shift is done and then probably not doing that, either

Making biscuits is mostly a mindless job so I usually have at least six hours to make a plan that's not likely to be carried out, but I also have six hours to solve the problems of the world...you know, like war, starvation, homelessness and the like.

i have routines but they are highly variable depending on time of year and the weather on any given day, as well as things like medical appts. Routine as much as many people resent/dislike it can be helpful especially as we get older. Knowing that stress (like everyone's been under the last few years can cause one to 'forget' crucial things like medications, bill paying, reconciling bank account, from before i retired 10 yrs ago i established routines/habits that both 'cue' me to do the 'must do' (the animals cue me to feed them, LOL) things for myself and provide quick easy confirmation that i have done them.

My rising and retiring routines are the ones that occur every day, barring unforeseen interruptions, with little variance for season/weather. Meditate when first wake up including thinking about what needs doing that day. Get up, make bed, not militarily or even Better Homes & Garden level but make it. Pour a cup of coffee, feed the cats and the dog. Eye Drops usually go in by time i wash my breakfast dishes--put the container with them and alcohol prep pads to clean fingers and bottle where highly visible. Vitamins transfer from the weekly sorting container to a small cup put near my coffee by computer because i will have after i eat, and i usually do that while on computer.

i check my emails, delete the junk read the pertinent ones. Check both FB (tho don't spend as much time there lately) and SF. About once a week i check my bank account online, reconciling to my check book figure to be sure my math was done right. And pay bills that will be due with in next week or so. i'm wanting to rearrange furniture so i can put the desk with my desktop computer in our huge living room because on days when i'm caught up with other chores i can spend more time on desktop, doing 'just for me' stuff.

In winter--have to check and stoke up fire in woodstove, decide how long i'm going to keep it going, and if i need to remove some ash--often putting the larger coals in a metal pan that i put inside the stove--which usually keeps them warm till late afternoon when i'll restart the fire. In winter also need to be as flexible as possible so can get Firewood split on sunnier days, stack it undercover and bring in a few days worth at a time, tho how long it lasts will depend greatly on just how cold it's getting at night and if it's sunny during day. On a sunny day the house retains the heat of the overnight fire thanks to sun streaming in Eastern windows. On cloudy days i have to let it go out, just covering coals with a pan lid on some days and on others doing the cleaning of ash thing.

i try to get most of my heavy chores done by time i take daughter to work. (She's now doing 6 days a week again, because the 'relief' person too mistake prone). Whether she goes in at 2 or 3pm (two days a week) i usually relax afterwards. occasionally in winter if i know a bad spell of weather coming i'll push to get more wood stove ready, so i can just bring in as needed. But usually i read, play video games (Bookworm, Word Search, Cubistry matching games) and check news of the day via YT video clips then watch some comedies before picking DD up from work at 9. i need some wind down time so play a bit more video games, i meditate again before going to sleep between 11-12midnight.

In winter daughter monitors the fire till she goes to sleep (usually 1-2a.m. Then i'll get up if need be--luckily i can see the light from fire thru the doorway of my room quite well so i don't have to get up for it unless there's hardly any. The last two nights we kept it going all night, but depending on weather may not need to consistently for a while yet, usually by December we have to and in Jan-Feb sometimes let it go out in morning just long enough to cool enough i can clean ash and restart. Those months we often have days, including sunny ones that the day time temp doesn't get above freezing. i generally have no trouble falling back to sleep between reattaching my CPAP tube and my meditations i go back sleep quickly.

Generally, I am up at about 3AM for a bathroom break. Since I often can not get back to sleep without eating something, I make some oatmeal and read the bible and spend a little time in prayer. Then, I go back to sleep in our super quiet, cool, dark guest room downstairs. Generally, I am back asleep by about 4:30AM and sleep til 6:30 or 7AM. Then I have breakfast and my strong coffee while watching some TV consisting of Modern Marvels and/or Leave it to Beaver. Then I do some work around the house til lunch time. Then go fishing or do some more work around the house. I could easily hire someone 20 hours per week to do upkeep on the house, garden and property at least for 9 months of the year, so I keep busy enough.
