Grandson in flight training

My G.S. was here last night talking about the flight training he's going through. He says he loves what he's getting trained to do & how advanced the new planes are. He said most are computer-controlled so they don't even need a pilot. They have them there to override the computer at times, also for take-off & landing.

I'm so proud of him as I always wanted to fly but could never get the instructions back in the '50s because the flight school was 75 miles one way from my home. Also, I didn't have the $$ to do it.

Does anyone else have grandkids who are proud of what they are doing?

What’s his ambitions after graduating?
To fly for UPS or FedEx. The school will allow him to fly as a co-pilot for a small cargo they are attached with. They guarantee him a job as long as he passes all his tests.

He's talked with other pilots down there & they tell him cargo, don't talk back or fight with you as passenger flights do.
Even doing UPS, he will be in the $150,000.00 a year range as co-pilot. After he gets so many hrs he becomes a captain or pilot & then he will get well over $200,000.00
If he has to layover somewhere they pay for room & board, great medical insurance.

I wish him the best. I started too late, as I was 34 when I got my license. I had a gap in flying when I was caregiver for my wife. When I retired, there was a small airport half mile from me.
I got current again, and ended up flying missions for Angel Flight West and Pilots n' Paws. I just joined the United Flying Octogenarians.

That's great Bowmore. He's 19, & hopes to finish his schooling in a year. They told him if he works on it 5 to 6 days a week he can do it.

What you're doing with your flights. I've heard a lot about Angel flights & the Pilots n' Paws. They show them a lot on our local news here.
