I'm 86!!

87 here, my 86 year old wife went from the nursing home to the ER today. Very frustrating trying to get any information.

We both have had both knees replaced and have also both had covid. She has been in bed since the beginning of March.

I use a cane. I keep one in the car and one by the door for when I go to fetch the mail. The car is parked 20' from the front door, the mail is further away.

I got my hearing aids from the VA. We have been married for 62 years, I very much miss having her here at home.

I put my teeth in to soak every night when I go to bed. Other than that I am bright-eyed and bushy-tailed

I'm 86. I use a cane most of the time. In the house, I use my 4 wheeled walker just to keep my little dog from getting in front of my feet. Also, take the walker with me when I go to Dr or shopping just in case I have a long distance to walk, I can stop sit down & rest & continue walking.
I do have a battery-powered chair I use sometimes also. I have a ramp coming into my sunroom for getting it in & out of the house.

My neurologist says my spine is bone on bone & at my age, there is nothing to do but give me pain pills. I have a partial right knee replacement back in 03 that was only supposed to last 7 to 10 years.

Now it's giving me lots of problems & pain. My othro Dr. is trying to find a way to get an MRI as she thinks I have something torn in there. The problem is I have that metal partial & trying to find the special MRI machine that will work with metal.

83. My service has left me in a wheelchair. I've got cardiovascular conditions, and I've got impaired vision. I'm 6 inches trim a 24 inch screen as I'm writing this!

However apart from that I'm pretty much in the pink. I live alone and manage so far without help.

There are many a lot worse off.

When you are out and about, driving on the highway, do those huge articulated trucks intimidate you. They are big are they not? More often than not some sprog is behind the wheel fancying himself as another Smokey & The Bandit.
Well tell that to Dick Henderson.

Dick Henderson, of Ashkirk, was presented with a Guinness Book of Records certificate at a surprise party in his local pub

Dick, is an 83 year old truck driver who has motored in the Guinness Book of Records. He says that he has plenty of miles left in the tank despite being named as the oldest trucker in the world.

I'm only 80, and so far so good. Lucky me! It's a surprise and a delight to wake up every morning:) The only annoyance I have so far is getting down on the ground to mess around in the flower garden and trying to get up again.
..and you still work 3 days a week... (y)... even I at 66 and relatively fit and young, have trouble getting up and down on my knees in the garden so I use this... It's a cushioned kneeler with handles to help haul you up, and although lightweight and foldable.. it's very solid when you're kneeling on it. You can use it the other way around to sit on too..

That is a rather clever piece of kit, Holly. My wife's knee replacement prevents her from kneeling, but with a clever contraption like that, she could kneel on her shin without risking damage to the artificial knee joint. It looks like it can be contorted into other shapes, is that so?

My latest problem is Transient Monocular Blindness which has been with me now in the right eye for two days. I've been getting it on and off for years. My Ophthalmologist tells me it is caused by temporary clots in the carotid arteries. The danger is that it could also cause reduction of blood getting to the brain and possibly even kill me. It can be detected by Doppler Tests on the carotid arteries. Since those clots tend to recur, surgery to remove them would only provide temporary relief. It is strange that it only happens to my right eye, never to the left eye.

it can only go 2 ways HC...either the one in the picture with the solid handles to help you up... or turned upside down to become a seat ...
