“Ghosts” on CBS…

It might be described as a supernatural comedy, but Ghosts on the CBS network is a hoot! An Americanized translation of a BBC show, Ghosts concerns a young couple who take over a large old estate to try and operate it as a B&B inn, but find it haunted by a variety of spirits who are earthbound after dying in the general vicinity over the centuries. The ghosts include a Viking, a colonial militiaman, a Native American, a 1920’s singer, a 1960’s hippie, a scout leader, and others. The lady alone is able to see and communicate with these entities following a near-death experience. The interactions of the spirits with the living and each other makes the show a winner. Ghosts airs Thursday evening in the eastern U.S., and is worth a look…

Yes, I watched the 1 hr debut episode Thurs night, thought it was funny as well
The young couple are Samatha, the only one who sees the ghosts and her husband Jay
It did well in the ratings,5 million won its time slot
Its on Thurs night on CBS at 9pm,its a half hour sitcom

Apparently the parent series ran on BBC One beginning in 2019, and is now in its third season. Clips of it can be found on UTube, and the talent came from something called Horrible Histories? The BBC series took place in an estate called the Button House, and the cast included a caveman-ghost character…

I suspect this was a kids series over here.Horrible Histories was.

Thanks for the tip! I can watch it via Paramount+. 👀 I need to add more shows to my watch lists like I need a hole in the head but it sounds interesting, fun and paranormal stuff is right up my alley, so I'll check it out.

Then there was "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir", both a movie and a TV series. Rex Harrison, I believe, played the ghost of the sea captain in the movie but I can't remember who played him in the the TV series, but he was a hunk.

Update: it was Edward Mulhare. A handsome, intense, Irish hunk.
I was a huge fan of TV show'Ghost&Mrs Muir Edward Mulhare&Hope Lange, can watch original watch episodes on Youtube.I also had a crush on Edward Mulhare,it continued when he co-starred with David Hasselhoff in 'Knight Rider' '82-'86. He didn't have the beard, was still handsome as he got older
I discovered a couple months ago fanfiction.net where fans of the GMM have written terrific stories about these 2 beloved characters.A few used actual dialogue from certain episodes. Some of them are much better than the original ones shown.I particularly like the stories with Capt Gregg and Mrs. Muir's daughter,Candy, how their relationship evolved over the yrs .In the series the writers seemed to concentrate more on the bond between Mrs Muir's son,Jonathan&Capt.

I watched last night's episode of 'Ghost' I found it emotional
The viewers find out how Pete died,he was teaching archery to some kids, one accidentally hit his arrow into his neck.
His wife&best friend,Jerry come to the house,Pete is excited but learns something he wasn't expecting. His wife &Jerry were having an affair while Pete &her were still married, she asks for forgiveness. The final scene shows his daughter and her son also named'Pete',he was overcome with emotion knowing he is a grandfather
One of the things I love about this show is there is no laugh track

Anyone remember the movies and tv series "Topper". They were made back in the forties and fifties. Same plot line except is was a man, Topper, who could see and interact with the spirits.

Never anything really new from Hollywierd.
Topper was one of my favourite after-school shows.

I’m enjoying Ghosts. It’s nice to have a light show to watch.

Daughter and i have been watching it on Paramount +. Only comdey we watch together. Most of our shows are dramas but when she's at workn evenimgs i wathch movies and comedy series.

I believe you are correct. Edward Mulhare was one of the reasons I enjoyed G & Mrs. M.

You are correct about Rex Harrison playing him in the movie. But Edward Mulhare as The Captain in the T.V. series is one of the reasons I watched the show. 😍
@Jules I used to enjoy watching Topper too. Back in those days (early 50's), there wasn't much in the way of supernatural T.V. shows so it was a must watch for me.

Re the OP: It took me a couple of episodes to realize it but the lead actress in Ghosts played the lead zombie character in iZombie, another show I've watched. I always liked her.

One other thing about Edward Mulhare I recently found out ,he was Rex Harrison's understudy in Broadway musical 'My Fair Lady' He took over from Harrison in ;'57-'60 to rave reviews. Sue

All of you seem enthralled with this new series, so I tried to watch. I'm sorry. I didn't think it comical. I turned it off.
I guess we all have different views of humor.
