Thank You and I have to give a huge compliment to your city of Toronto as being one of the cleanliest cities I have ever visited in my life. If you have any questions concerning nutrition or diets please ask. I will tell you I am a huge advocate of good proportioned meals and not snacking on junk food between meals. Staying away from fast food is also something I really stand by. Daily exercise is also huge. Now when I say daily exercise I mean just a 20-30 minute walk.

Thank You Sue, Not sure if I would take a long walk in a blinding snowstorm or pouring rain, but wind doesn't hold me back.

@Maryatrics
I have been thinking about you, and the work you did, and your posts in other threads, which show how well you did it and still do that :)

And I have found myself wondering,
how difficult was it, to transition along with the huge amount of learning and re-learning, of all of the shifting info regarding diets and foods and nutrition options, that happened during the decades you worked as a Dietician/Nutritionist?

Those particular years, saw enormous changes in advising and guidelines, and in peoples' typical foods, and it seems to me that it would have been very challenging to keep up with all those changes, in order to be supportive to a wide range of people.

Mary ,the reason I don't go outside if its really windy,I have a partial right knee Sue
I am going to have hip replacement surgery sometime in the near future once this pandemic stuff gets more settled.

It was somewhat difficult , but we stayed on top of things as things evolved over time and we were always taking seminars and classes to get more and more of the newest information that we could have. Pretty much from the beginning though my stance on good nutrition and a healthy diet was eating a well proportioned 3 meals per day. You would not believe some of the portion sizes that people eat at meals. For example, there was a client of mine that told me whenever his wife cooked pasta for dinner that would be the only thing they would have other then maybe garlic bread along with it. I said to him , that is not enough to eat if you are eating the right portions. He told me the portion size was the entire large plate mounded up of pasta with sauce on top and sometimes even meatballs. That is what I am referring to as not the correct portions. There is also the importance and this really never changed, and that is the fact of snacking on high fatty foods/snacks between meals. That can't be happening. Also eating late in the evening was always something I stressed to not to be done.

That's very interesting, @Maryatrics
Thanks for your reply.:)
It sounds like an excellent balance between learning, taking courses, incorporating new info that became available;
Along with keeping/continuing with your basic core beliefs and original education.
That sounds great to me. (y)

I have to say it was a very enjoyable career. One in which I learned quite a bit from those when I started out and I hope I taught some of the young ones that are still working in the field right now. What really made my job rewarding is seeing and hearing the success stories that came from the counseling that I and others provided.

I am positive that those younger ones learned from you, and that will benefit both them, and the people they go on to help. And the people you gave good advising to, will benefit from that, for a long time, too.
