This was told to me by a neighbour about a close relative.
The 90 year old woman was scammed but by good luck it was stopped. She knew about the scam of someone saying your grandchild is in jail. Still she was so stressed she fell for it. They called her several times and warned her to not tell anyone because the grandson was so embarrassed. She packed up $8000 in cash into a box and sent it via FedEx.
When she started to question her decision, she called he son who was away at work in the US. He called FedEx, they located the box and stopped the delivery. That was a close one.
I don’t know if the police investigated the final destination.
Now that the scammers know she’s vulnerable, I suspect that she’ll be getting more calls.
