Do you recognize people that you know regardless of how they're dressed?

I ask this because today, I saw a man that I used to go to church with just a few years ago but I did not know him. He says "Hey girl" and I looked at him thinking "who is this"? My face must have shown my confusion because he stood there and just kept smiling at me. For a few minutes, I still couldn't figure out who he was. Finally, it hit me and I said "Oh". He was dressed in work attire with a beard and I was used to seeing him in a suit and tie clean shaven. Now I think back about it and it is so funny. Do you do this?

Not about the way they dress, but I am afflicted with "face blindness". The name for it is prosopagnosia.

I know the faces of people who are close to me and know who's who at work. However, if I see someone I work with outside of the shop, it's not likely that I would recognize them.

Believe me, it really is an affliction and often very embarrassing.

OMG not you too..I suffer from that, and I've never met anyone else who suffers from it.......I only recognise people if I see them hundreds of times, but otherwise I don't recognise people outside of the exact area to where I always see them..for example at work. Couldn't even recognise the face of my own child when I had to collect her from school sometimes..

It's got no better as I've aged.. if my daughter arranges to meet me somewhere I've never met her before, she will be the one who has to call out to me or I would have trouble finding her.

I have always however recognised people by their walk.. I don't recognise faces but if someone is walking I know who they are instantly...

I use to recognize all past workers I worked with or old friends. Now with these damn masks on someone hollers at me & I have no idea who they are. I see people in stores & they look at me & I look at them then one of us says don't I know you? Then the voice is recognizable.

In most places I go anymore I ask people to take the masks off so I can understand what they're saying. Some reason when they have a mask on it just sounds like mumbling. They do take down the mask then I can understand them. Maybe I'm reading lips I don't know?

@hollydolly Et tu? I've never known anybody else with the problem. Maybe some are just embarrassed to admit it? Like you, if it's someone I've seen hundreds of times, and I see them in the same place I always see them, I know them. Otherwise, they probably think I'm a snob:(
I have always been accused by people of being stuck up, and ignoring them. It's embarrassing, and I don't tell people I suffer from face blindness, I don't know why..probably because I feel I'd be disbelieved and thought to be using it as an excuse for being rude....
