Thanksgiving Dinner Weirdness

So luckily it was just Huzz and I for dinner so we went kind of casual with our Thanksgiving dinner; for dessert, I just bought a frozen pumpkin pie, this one (I'll explain in a sec why the box is kinda torn):


Sorry the pic came out sideways, it does every time I use my darn phone, sigh. Anyway, this is what I found when I finally got the box open:



So the plastic that's on the pie got a little tiny hole in it and enough of the pie filling leaked out--although I kept it frozen the whole time but whatever--that stuck the pie a little to the box which is why I had to tear it. But not that much leaked into the box but as you can see in pic 2, exactly half that pie filling is gone! So that missing half didn't leak out into the box so I guess they put it in the box like that? And it looks like a pretty straight line where it's missing so almost like somebody cut it before putting it in the box?! I mean, what the heck?! And of course I bought it a couple of months ago and don't remember which store I got it at and no longer have the receipt anyway because of course not. Sigh.

I know, right? It kinda looks like the filling was in that half of the pie at one time since the dough kind of darker than the dough around the edges. And it doesn't seem like it would've just leaked out because then you wouldn't've had such a straight line across. It's just really weird to me. I don't know, I might try to contact Marie Callendar, the manufacturer; see how I feel tomorrow maybe. Ah, life, it is just always something!

That's very strange indeed!

It could have been someone's idea of a joke, but I don't think it's too funny.

I'd be curious to know what Marie Callendar has to say about it.

I hope you had something else around for your dessert!

Definitely contact Marie Callendar. It could have been caused by a machine or a person. I’m sure they’d like to know. There may be so codes on the box. I wouldn’t ask for any compensation. Just tell them this is an F.Y.I.

When they were making the pies, someone said to someone else, man I'm sick of smelling these pies. I bet you can't eat half of one of these.

Very strange!

My guess is that a case of pies were allowed to thaw on their side and the filling shifted. Then the case was refrozen on its side.

As others have said I would call the manufacturer and request a coupon for a replacement.
