Did not always agree with him, but I have always respected him. A good man and a WWII hero. We could use a Republican voice like him now.

Dole was instrumental in causing the polarization that exists in our country today. He even called criticized our involvement in WWII because it wasn't his political party that got us into it, even though he built his career on the injuries he sustained in the war. Just because on a few occasions he worked with the other party doesn't mean he wasn't radical. He was just doing what was politically expedient at the time.
