Are you a Savvy Online Shopper?

Chances are you'll be shopping for holiday gifts.
Do you get "good deals"?

I try to be an "advised consumer"..checking around... before buying.

How ' bout you?

Probably not. I'm not a huge online shopper. I'm a huge thrift store shopper.

However if I'm going to buy something I research and read reviews. For example when I wanted one of those silver shelving units for extra kitchen storage. I ended up ordering from Walmart with delivery to the store. That way if there were any problems, it was an easy return as I had read some reviews of bent parts from Amazon. I had no problems with my order.

I don't shop online my wife does. She looks for & gets the best price for whatever she wants. Doesn't necessarily need what she buys but she gets the best price.

Then I go online to get tips on assembly if required or videos on operating whatever.

I do not care for online shopping at all.
i like to feel an item to see how it is made. too many items show up not even close to what was pictured or portrayed online.

i worked in retail for many years and we had insane overlapping deals that if you bought on a certain day and sometimes selected hours etc you could get an extra 10-15% off. i watched people go crazy trying to loop in all the deals etc often not reading the fine print and then yell at workers when it did not work. Online groups often remind me of this ..... except there is no one to explain why a coupon or promo code did not work.

i bought a gift basket last year ...........so this year i have emails almost daily to buy again said i could get 20% off
i picked a nice basket to send and tried the promo code........ did not work. It came up in red need to be $69 or over price was 69.95
I was irritated but went back into site looked at other more expensive baskets again did not work.

Gave up picked a much cheaper gift $44 was disappointed i wasted 40 minutes on this and low and behold the promo code worked on an item that was clearly $20 less then what they said was a minimum. Still can't figure that out.

Have a friend who signed up for one of those buy through us sites that are supposed to get % back but she has to jump through hoops....and is never ending that you need to spend X amount and the rewards only last so long etc.
they are collecting all her online data and giving her pennies............ for what seems to be the hottest commodity personal data.

They obviously make a ton selling that and some seem content for coupons and % off.

Not me, says I. More of an impulse buyer, the racks near the check stands were designed for shoppers like me (filled with unnecessary items I could probably use somewhere, somehow). The only thing that slows me down on Amazon is removing my credit card ever time so I have to get the numbers for the next impulse. It's not needing something it's satisfying the need to acquire. FOMO

I'm a "gotta have right, now" shopper. When what iI wants comes up on the screen, I click and buy, but then that's not always the cheapest. So, I'm not always aware of the best deals. It irks me when I see the blank for entering those sales codes You have to be a super customer to get those codes, and I only want one thing. That doesn't seem right.

I’m definitely a value shopper, but I do get skunked every now and then.

Sometimes, I fail to read the fine print or look at the total cost including shipping.

My biggest shopping tip is: If you’ve lived this long without it you probably don’t need it. 😉

“If they’re selling elephants two for a quarter, that’s a great bargain. But only if you have a quarter — and only if you need elephants.”

I prefer brick and mortar stores. I placed a couple of online orders which should have arrived by now but haven't due to our messed up mail. 😥

At least at a store, you see it, you like it, you pay for it, you leave the store with it. Easy. I'm becoming more disillusioned with the online life by the day.

I will look online to learn the dimensions of something, especially appliances.

When I wanted a particular ceiling fan, I found both Lowe's and Home Depot had it online, but neither carried that model in the store. The difference in their prices was 10 cents.

There is an incredible variety of t-shirts available online that no store comes close to matching.

I bought a TV cabinet that incorporates book shelves on one side that I have never seen in a store.

My experience on eBay left a bitter taste. I had won/bought two bids for multi DVD series. The seller sent me a message after I had paid that he will need about a week to fulfill my win. He had an emergency at home and ship the items as soon as possible. I had paid him approx $150 through paypal. I waited 30 days for delivery, nothing, nada. I called both eBay and PayPal was basically told nothing they could do he had a high rating, no bad reviews. So I chalked that up to inexperience on my part.

I believe you can post a review of the seller on eBay — something like, although he has a good reputation, this is what happened to you.

When buying..I use credit card...that "backs me up".
..after hearing about PayPal...hmm?🤔
