Microsoft 11 computer systems- more ads per minute than any other

I just got a new computer with Microsoft 11. So far, no glitches. But I'm buried in an avalanche of ads. I bought a pair of shoes online. Pic ads of those shoes show up in ads every time I click on something. You begin to type for a search, and there are ads for "suggestions". You type "no....", and it's no, I don't want Nordic workout machines nor Nova Scotia sky resorts, nor Nordstrom's. And , for me, it seems that 11 steers customers to Microsoft allied businesses. Again , it's my opinion, but 11 seems more like a selling system, than an operating system. Maybe I'm just an old curmudgeon. Bah Humbug!

As I posted awhile back MS 11 is a nightmare and what you posted is just one of the things that drive you around the bend.Is just not the BROWSER that bombarded you with adds, they come from everywhere in the MS11 operating system itself. Have to be an I.T. expert to rid yourself of all of them,if game check the link on how to,GOOD luck!

Not the MS 11 operating system but rather the default loaded Edge browser you apparently are using. Load another browser and set options to reduce ads per online technical discussions.
I love Firefox. But 11 says I'm not able to use it, or I will PERMANENTLY lose their super dooper security system. I've noticed 11 seems very restrictive. It reminds me in old first days of computers, when everything had to be "Windows" compliant.

Oh, thank you. Will try it. 11 doesn't seem to be an made as an operating system but a Microsoft customer steering/ad machine.

Tricky way to force you to use their security system (I guess that means anti-virus?). Windows 10 does not require that at all, and I use a third-party anti-virus program and have several browsers.

What a lousy trick from Microsoft.

I will never switch to Windows 11. Sounds like you have been royally "ripped off." Should my Windows 10 die it's natural demise, I will glady buy a Chromebook or even an Apple but I will not buy another Window. It's strange you should write this because I have a similiar experience with Gmail. I have an old account that has absolutely no adds. I opened up a new account just last week and it is full of those stupid advertising. I feel sorry for you fuzzybuddy but upgrading is not always the best idea. I think Windows got you and everybody else that think that keeping up with the Jones in computing is cool by the "short and curlies." Just because Windows is the world's most popular operating system doesn't exactly make it the best. Think VIRUS.

Install ABP...AdBlockPlus. It's free, and works great. I've used it for years, and it has blocked over 5 million ads on my system, with no problems. Sometimes I visit a site; which requires disabling ABP to view the content....easy one step click, to disable/reenable ABP.

Can you convert back to 10?

Wow, I had no idea but it looks as though Windows 11 is a Pandora's Box of ads. Ads, ads, everywhere!
This link purports to explain how to get rid of most, if not all, of the Microsoft "suggestions" or ads.
I don't know about your level of expertise but it does look a bit involved, even to me and I'm no novice.
I would imagine that with time and negative feed back, that Microsoft might make some tweaks to the
updates that are sure to come, in time. Windows 11 isn't all that widespread yet but given time, people
who know far more than me are sure to come up with workarounds and even the big wheels at Microsoft
might have their programmers to "fix" some of these aggravations when enough users complain.

I wish you luck with your new system though! Thanks for warning me of what to expect if and when I
upgrade.

I just took a quick look before posting this and I found a link about changing one's browser in Win 11.
It sounds and says that it's complicated but possible. Here's the link if you'd care to have a look.

Thanks. 11 just came out. I'm not that great with computers-no patience. I think I'll wait till more get sick of 11 and start complaining. I know they'll have to update this turkey.
