Another shooting in America. Four people are injured. How awful for them and their families. Oakbrook Mall is an upscale mall in Chicago so it's surprising that something like this has happened there.

Oh well, just the benefits of our gun culture.

"The Small Arms Survey stated that U.S. civilians alone account for 393 million (about 46 percent) of the worldwide total of civilian held firearms. This amounts to "120.5 firearms for every 100 residents."

It always seems to get much worse at Christmas, because these twisted people know there are many more people out and about during the festive period, and are easy targets ...

I have a close friend who lives in Chicago. She and her husband are looking to move to the Carolinas but can't find any decent available real estate. They live in an affluent neighborhood and have been subject to car-jackings, break-ins and all other sorts of crime. It is all over the city now. And I thought it was just their winters that were bad.

The cities are becoming war zones. We used to go to St. Louis a couple times a year to visit their casinos, but stopped going there about 5 years ago, because of the increasing crime. Even the nice quiet suburb we lived in just east of Kansas City has seen 2 or 3 shootings in the past year...I can't recall any during the 20 years we lived there. Our local TV news comes from Columbia, MO, and multiple shootings occur in that nice medium sized college city, every week.

More and more, I'm glad we left crowded urban areas, and don't have to contend with such activity.

I'm glad you left too and hope you're more peaceful and happy where you're home is now. 🕊

Yes, it's not a people problem; it's those damn guns!
People are all God's creation & therefore wonderful; guns make them evil. 😂

I would say it tends to make them stupid if they weren't originally, and stupid people with dangerous weapons is not a good combination. The figures don't lie. Gun violence in America is out of control, and the inability to enact even the most basic laws to curb it (back round checks, waiting periods, etc.) says a lot about the influence of big money in government, but no surprises there. By the way I own several guns myself, but there are far to many out there that shouldn't have access to them, for there protection, and ours. Mike

There is NO inanimate object that can make a person stupid.
What happens is, the person is already stupid & the object (gun or fast car) can allow someone to exercise & display their stupidity that was already there.

Maybe not, but all to many people will do things with a gun in their hand, that they would never do without it. It gives them a sense of power they don't have unarmed, and this has led to countless unnecessary, and unjustified deaths. Mike

Yes, a gun gives the average American a sense of "growing a pair." Boldness, confidence and/or Brass Balls.

Of course. Where do ya think I got my pair?
Without my gun, they'd 'a shriveled up years ago.
And they get bigger with each ammo purchase - along with somethin' else.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but they are looking at a golfing community inland from Hilton Head. I can't remember the city, but they are sold on it and are ready to move. There is just no real estate available at the present time. They will move eventually. 👍
