How Many Feel Let Down by the End of Dec. 25th?
Not me, yesterday was fine, enjoyed it and now moving on.
Boxing day ( the day after Christmas)
What is Boxing day all about? I only know its a holiday in the UK and Canada the day after, don't know anything else.

Any of the original thoughts of boxing goods up and giving to the poor are long gone in Canada.

This is our equivalent to Black Friday. People will line up to get the ‘hot’ priced items in the stores. This year BC is under extreme cold warnings so they’d be more foolish than usual to sit outside. In our area it’s -30C / -22F.

Both hub and I agree there is a let down after Christmas, whether you engaged heavily in it or not.
It may be because there are 3 major "collective consciousness" holidays in a short period of time and after all, these are the shortest days of the year to try to cram it all into. These holidays are "legislated holidays"... spend money and eat fattening food also...like to participate or enjoy, buy these gifts, eat this big meal on Thanksgiving, eat these high calorie cookies, fudge, candy on Christmas and drink and eat "over the top" on New Year's.

After all this it immediately reverts to "kick back", step on the scales, slim down, and wait for the bills to come in. Plus for a lot of people living in the northern hemisphere...do try to enjoy 4 more months of brutally boring cold weather?

No wonder there's a collective letdown. Like "duh."

No problem out here in my neck of the woods. I bought very little for Christmas. Just 4 little gift cards. I only send out digital greetings. I absolutely did not shop nor bake for Christmas. To me Christmas is a big consumer "shop until you drop" madness. It used to be about the birth of Christ but this upsets the politically correct who insist that we be all inclusive. Try to please everyone but in the end please no one. My daughter is visiting for a week and we are making daily rounds of friends and family. To me people are a lot more important than buying some sort of 86 inch TV because advertisers are telling us to "keep up" with technology. When those credit card statements arrive in the mailbox around January 21, I always have a big smile on my face because my balance is zero and yet I still had a wonderful Christmas being with family and friends.

I'm glad it's over, hope to make something different happen next year.
If you wouldn't mind elucidating as to why you feel this way. I know the high of Christmas dissipates for some. There is always New Year's to look forward to. I have a beautiful bottle of blue champagne ready to pop and so am I ! Happiest New year to you!😁

I think the most fun of Christmas is preparing for it. Buying presents, decorating, crafts, carols, mass etc. are things to look forward to.
Next is the opening of the presents. After that I think some people have little , if anything, to look forward.
It helps, I think, to have friends over or have small party of your closest friends, maybe go out to dinner and continue to celebrate. Keeping the vibe going is my solution to preventing the screeching halt to Christmas. 💖 ☄️💥

Most retailers either are profitable or not, depending on Xmas sales. So, there's no holds barred Xmas hype. How many TV channels are running schmaltzy Xmas shows? Let'see ,he's an undercover prince, and she's a widow, who owns a cookie store- and through the miracle of Xmas, they find true love. Of course, you've watched a thousand "get it now, before Xmas" ads. Christmas is more about what's under the tree, than what makes me feel good. It's pure commercialism. If you get caught up in the hype, once you open your presents, there's not much left. I used to get caught up in Xmas- decorating the place, etc. Then by 8 AM, Xmas, I began to think, "Aw, no, I gotta take this all down?" Today, I have one decoration, don't bother with the hype, and I don't put all my hopes, and energy in making just this one day special by buying out a store.

As some have mentioned- Christmas has become very commercial, buy-buy-buying has become a seasonal obligation, very overblown an having nothing to do with celebrating the birth of Jesus.

Happy New Year to you as well! 😊

@Packerjohn I agree with you about keeping up with technology. DD/DSIL gave me a tablet. For years she's bugged me to get a tablet, and for years I've told her I don't want a tablet. Every. Single. Time. she brings it up, I repeat that I don't want a tablet.

Now I've got a tablet. Of course, anymore there are no instructions included with anything technical/digital so I have no idea how to get into it. I've fiddled with it and fiddled with it, got on the laptop and queried how to get into it, and got no satisfactory solution.

I live in less than 300sf. The sitting room is 10x10 sf, big enough for a sofa with a chaise, bookcases, and a TV hung on the wall. That's it. The bedroom is 10x10 sf, big enough for a bed, dresser, TV on top of the dresser. The kitchen is long and narrow, suitable for cooking but not big enough for a table/chairs so I don't eat in there. Where on earth would I even need/use a tablet?!

I want to ask her to return it, but doing that would hurt her feelings because she was so proud of herself for giving me what, in her opinion and in the opinion of Madison Avenue and Amazon, is a fine gift. It would be a fine gift for somebody else.

I use my android tablet for downloading books. (No room in my place for book storage.)
Question: Does every state in US have an app to access free downloadable books from your state's library? Mine does, and
while I do have to sign up and wait for bestsellers, there's lots of content for free books and magazines.
I do like carrying a tablet instead of a book. But I know lots of people prefer books..

Well, I am not let down...I am happy I was able to spend time with daughter and family. I am thankful for what I do have and I am still here to enjoy it. As for Boxing Day, it's another day off for both son's. I took turkey and fixings to my other siblings this morning and they were happy to receive it.

@SeaRaven I don't know about downloading books and will never know. I can't get into the tablet. I can turn it on. Period. That's the extent of what I've figured out how to do. Not motivated to figure out anything on the damned thing. I did try to get help from Amazon. It was a bust. There's no way to have a conversation with the chat robot!

what kind of tablet is it?

Maybe your daughter or someone in the family will help.
