A strange visitor

Then she kept insisting I was Judy's mother even after I told her I wasn't - twice. She handed me a plastic bag with something in it and said for me to give it to Judy.
I'm glad everything worked out okay, seems kind of scary to let the stranger in, but perhaps she'd brought a holiday present and didn't want to accept that she was going to have to travel to another house to deliver it.
Did she give any explanation for not having a phone of her own?

I wondered that, too. Unless she's like me and doesn't have a mobile device. She looked kinda challenged.
although many of us are concerned for your safety ... we were not there

maybe if challenged she was not a threat... but i would check on # she called as suggested. If judy she might calm your mind by letting you know this person is harmless.

In this, "day&age"..you can never be too careful...
I have my doubts about so many things.
It is your prerogative whether or not to have a mobile device..
But... I have one for emergencies..I take with me when I go out..
And, it has " come in handy".🤗

Did she have a car or did she walk to you? If so, could she be a neighbor, or the ward of a neighbor?
I didn't notice a car. I did call the cable company and was informed that she did call the number I gave her, but the agent said the call only lasted a second - like she dialed and hung up after one ring. Getting stranger and stranger.

Again... YOU call Judy .... find out if she will be able to help clarify what happened at your house today.

I know I wouldn't just shrug my shoulders, but again, I would have never let her in ... probably wouldn't have answered the door.

But you said "Then she asked to use my phone. I guess she called Judy and talked quite a while"
So WHO was she talking to? Herself? Knowingly or unknowingly?

(((Deb)))
I'm only yelling at you because I care.

My doorbell chimed around 1:30 PM today. I wasn't expecting company, but I answered it. There was a woman I didn't know standing there. She asked to see Judy (that was the former owner's name). I told her Judy wasn't here any more and had moved and it was my house now. She asked where Judy had moved, but I'm not sure where. Then she kept insisting I was Judy's mother even after I told her I wasn't - twice. She handed me a plastic bag with something in it and said for me to give it to Judy. I didn't want that responsibility and felt she should deliver it herself, I offered to give her Judy's phone number and wrote it down. Then she asked to use my phone. I guess she called Judy and talked quite a while as she walked around my house. I was just about to ask her to wrap it up - she was starting to get on my nerves, but I think they got something worked out. I was relieved when she went.

This certainly sounds suspicious. If she used your cell phone, you might call the number she called, and verify who she was....IF she did indeed make a call. You can also look up the number she dialed, on a reverse phone lookup web-site, and verify the owner of that number.
