..or outbuilding ?

Many of us have boxes filled with stuff we've not seen for years stored away in attics and basements.. I certainly have a lot in my attic.. and a lot in the barn and sheds.. although very tidy and neatly stored.. still sometimes there's a complete surprise when I go looking for something and open a box and find something long forgotten.

Do you know what's in yours... do you keep note of what gets stored away ?... have you ever found something that you'd forgotten all about ?

Quite often. I often come across items I haven't used in years....some I've never used. I've sold a few on EBAY, and will probably list a bunch more through the rest of this Winter. A few weeks ago, the wife and I went through our closets, and took a bunch of coats, etc., to the Salvation Army.

I know where everything is that I have in my storage room. After last years purge most of what's left is in plain sight. The only couple of boxes that I'm not sure of are some sentimental things my kids made or gave me while they were growing up. Looking through them will not be a chore and will probably bring a tear to my eye and some fond memories.

I have over 3000sf of storage area, and it is slowly going away. I was in the construction business for many years, and I have accumulated a pretty vast stock of building materials. Much of it has been used up in the construction of my new workshop, and more yet will be applied to the new apartment I'm building in the garden level of my home, which was my old workshop. The rest is filled with project cars, and metal working machinery awaiting my attention. Hoping to have everything squared away in the next few years. Mike

I usually will donate when I start becoming overwhelmed with the clutter. I just donated about 10 pairs of shoes; if I haven't worn anything in a year... out it goes.

oh no I have to wait longer than a year because my weight fluctuates a lot so something that fits this summer won't necessarily fit next.. and then the following spring it will

i do not but my son when he moved took a complete inventory even photos as they put things away i often wonder if they update as they buy things cause they LOVE to shop lol
what a good idea.. I've got photos of everything in my Barn.. but not in my attic.. I never even thought of it... I must go up there and do that..

Whenever I need a widget, I can never find one. I have several, I put them away. I know I did. They're in there, someplace, but I can't find them. So off to the widget store, and I buy one. When I go to put it away, I find the eight others I own. Works every time.
And in answer to the question, do I know what's in all those boxes- NO WAY!

Nope! If a box hasn't been touched in years and I can write my name in the dust, I just pitch it without opening it. I haven't missed whatever was in them all those years, I sure don't miss getting rid of it. Works for me! Am now clutter free!

Every house should have a cellar, you just open the door, chuck your junk down the stairs, then lock the door again.......easy. 😊
We have owned 9 homes, never had a basement. Attics have varied, some good others worthless.

When I moved I downsized and got rid of tons of stuff, but sometimes I’ll dig in a drawer now and still get surprised by what I find.

I have stuff stored in a locked locker in the basement. One time I hadn't been to it in a long time and was surprised at what was there. I know now what's basically in there and most of it I'll not use again.

If I ever move I just might forget it and it wouldn't be a big deal.
