Question About Posting on Multiple Sites

Is it weird or not PC that I often post the same content on other forums? Or, more accurately another forum?

There are different people here so I look at it as having a larger discussion about the topic(s) in which I am interested.

Other people do that, right?

Welcome to SF. You might find the answer to your query in this sites TOS. IMHO the only issue some forum owners, administrators and mods have is posting the same question or comment on more then one subforum on the site itself. Spamming is a serious no no too. As for posting a thread, comment or otherwise on other multiple forums would be an issue that you should touch base in the help subforum at the bottom of the homepage. Other more personal issues that you feel you can't resolve I guess you should PM Matrix and he will resolve your concern. As I said that's my opinion leastways. Again Welcome to SF. The best Senior Forum on the net.

Not weird. If a topic your interested in there is nothing wrong with talking about it on different forums.

But posting it in the same forum under different sub forums would be wrong.

What is spamming?

Thank you for the welcome. :giggle:
I agree about this forum; I am new, but it has already become my favorite (of the three I am on) and the one I spend the most time on, find myself hanging out on.

Thank you for the kind welcome and advice. :giggle:

Not everyone belongs to the same forums. There are many forums other then SF, so getting responses from people on different forums can be helpful. Just my opinion. ⚘
Yes, IMHO, it's simply widening the disscussion group, which enriches the conversation. Although, as I mentioned in another post, this is the forum I am spending more and more time with as the people here are warm and engaging. I don't mean to be sycophantic (love that word), but really, ya'll are great. ;)

Not a good idea. If you asked a question, many people hate to spend the time to come up with an answer which may have been posted on another forum.
You know, I think I used the wrong word in my OP. I should have written "site," as in SF, Reddit, etc. I wouldn't post twice on the same site. I believe I botched the question a bit and created confusion. My duh, guys.

I knew you meant different sites. My comment was referring to other sites, not the same forum, my reply to Matrix was meant as different "sites" other then SF.

Example.

I'm on a different sites forum, I ask, what's the least expensive hearing aid that works well?

I get a few replies. Then I come here and think, why not ask members here? So I do, I don't copy and paste my question, why would I, so I then get replies here. Now I have a good idea of what's available in inexpensive hearing aides.

Yes, I was reading it as different sites, too. I love this site and if I could only have one this would be it, but I also post on a few more specialized sites for particular interests of mine.

For example, I know this site has a "talk about books" section, but I'm sure no one here wants to read the 200 reviews I've entered on Amazon's book section, or read dozens of reviews by other people over any one particular book. So I talk about them there, but might also say I like X book on this forum. No cutting and pasting, just my same opinion.

Personally, I barely have time for this site, which I love and another more personal site which I also get a kick out of. I am neglecting my work and other things that are also important to me right now. But, this will change. There is nothing more sure than change. 😇

That makes sense to me.

Me too! LOL I'm going to be late for tele-visit with friend because I can't tear myself away.

@Medusa -- think about it--in your 3D everyday life do you refrain from bringing up a topic with one person because you've discussed with another?

Sometimes responses from one set of people make one interested in broadening the pool of responses, especially if you first post on a 'niche' site (just for seniors, just for certain types of professionals, or people with specific interests) One of the things i still like about FB is the broad demographics, tho they seem to be trying to limit interaction between diverse groups.
My whole life i've been able to have productive and fun conversations with people both older and younger than myself. i find it helps keep my perspective broader to consider how something might impact or just appear to someone from a different 'group' of any kind.

No, you were right. Google says:
"A forum is an online site created for the purpose of allowing discussion. ... Forum users can interact by posting questions, answers, and other comments related to a given topic. A thread is a grouping of posts set-up as a conversation among users."

So while you wouldn't ask the same question on multiple threads in Senior Forums, you can ask here, then ask it on Quora, etc. While trying to find out exactly how many online forums there are ( I failed) I did read that there are about 400 new forums started every day and Reddit has over a billion members.

And Reddit has several if not many niche 'sub-reddit' groups from employment and shopping problems to difficult in-laws to the more general 'Am I the A$$h---' group. i know this because my daughter reads them to get a good laugh. She deals with a lot of 'not always right' customers on her job.
