What is your favorite type of color book

I love Johanna Basford color books and have done a few of them several times. Right now I am coloring her World of Flowers. I also bought a new set of colored pencils that I have wanted for forever. Tried to get them for Christmas but could not.

They arrived today, 180 different colored pencils in a tin box. 😊

Do you prefer pencils or pens? What type color book is your favorite?

I use Prismacolor, Arteza, Castle, Starjoy, Brutfuner, and Holbein (very expensive). These are all good and I recommend Star Joy as very inexpensive Chinese brand. I use them mostly with my Prismacolor. I create miniature artworks with these. I do have a couple of coloring books but I have passed a lot over to my neighbor who I got into coloring books after her husband passed. She loves them and it helps move her forward. I generally oil paint but sometimes I love to do small projects without the mess.
What ever you do, stay away from Cool Bank pencils which I found to be very inferior. You won't like them believe me.
The rest I named above are excellent. Look for good deals on Amazon or Dick Blick Art Supplies. You can buy single replacement pencils for Prismacolor at a reasonable price at Dick Blick (not Amazon). Good luck and have fun!

I'm always looking for ideas, of activities that I might find a way to adapt into something I could do, so I'm happy to see this thread, and the posts in it. :)

I also enjoy seeing what other people enjoy doing, even if it isn't a match for myself. I'm glad you enjoy it, and I like learning about it, that way too.(y):geek::love:

i do online it is like color by number you click on color and all tiny places turn are highlighted you fill in move to next one is somewhat relaxing
there are many sites the one i use is called Happy Color
has all sorts of categories i like the mosaic or patterns
I have done something like that, in the past, with picture puzzles. It was relaxing, and pleasant if you enjoy the subject matter or the art, of the pictures utilized.

I like gel pens and usually buy the refills. As for the coloring books, I don't usually go by the brand or artist but the subject. I have several usually flowers, gardens, animals, ocean life and a desert one. I do prefer the ones that are spiral bound and that pull out of the book. It is a very relaxing hobby.
