Safety if You Live Alone?

Do you have a plan or system in case something happens to you while you’re alone?

Getting to the phone might be difficult. If you’ve ever had excruciating pain, you know this could happen.

Do you have a system where a neighbour or friend watches out for you? One neighbour here watches the curtains & lights at an elderly woman’s house. We watch the curtains of the man next door, not that he’s very fragile so we’re not too concerned.

Hate to say it, but we’re on this site because we’re seniors and things can go wrong.

I watch out for my neighbours, they're regular as clockwork the time they get up and go to bed. They're both well into their 80's and she had a stroke... and he is her carer ... and altho' he's active, he's markedly slowing down and I can see it They have friends also who would notice if there was radio silence from them

This is another reason I've been trying to get my huzz to move a neighborhood where the houses aren't so far apart. Of course, you never know what you're going to get in the way of neighbors but if they are okay, they can help as you said.

trouble is so many people keep themselves to themselves these days, often people don;t even know the surname of their neighbours. I;ve lived here a very long time, and aside from the rental house on one side of me which has transient tenants approx every 7 years... al my neighbours have lived here for decades like me., and many in their 40's went to school with my daughter and in fact some who are now grandparents were still in school when I moved here as a young bride,.. and are now in their late 50's and early 60's,.

years ago we all used to mingle and mix.. but not for some years now since really people started to stay home with social media, after coming home from work.. but we all still know everyone's' names, and whose cars are whose, and who are strangers in the area

That is true. I'm just thinking though that being a little closer has at least a chance of more friendliness.
