Good to see a "neighbor" here. What part of Central Missouri?? We are a few miles North of the Lake of the Ozarks...on a piece of forestland between Laurie and Stover.

greetings from the thumb of Michigan ...from one who spent too much time milking cows.....not really they were good at the time

St. Martins, a little west of Jefferson City. Lived there for the past 4 years as a result of a "divorced caused relocation"
I was born and raised at Pilot Grove Missouri, south of Boonville. I still have my family farm there and plan to move back when we can decide on where and what type of house to put up.

Yup, we're almost neighbors....about 50 miles apart. We get up to Boonville, to the Isle of Capri, about once a month, and usually take 5 highway and pass about 6 or 8 miles East of Pilot Grove. After living and working in KC for 30+ years, this quiet country life is a welcome change. I kind of like the Jeff City area, and if health, etc. ever forces us to move away from the boondocks, I would think seriously about relocating to that town. We get our health care services through Capital Region, and so far, so good.

When you are about 10 or 12 miles north of 50, on highway 5, you go past a large "mansion" on the East side of the highway. That is Ravenswood. That is my godfathers place. My farm is about a mile and a half north of that, past the little burg of Bellair. You go past highway F, that takes you to the thriving metropolis of Speed Mo. My south entrance is at the top of the hill past highway F.

Toot, I mean welcome Gene. :welcome:

rkunsaw, I think you need to work on other KL folks to come here. This place is Neat!!!!! I did see where there is already a "hoppy", and since it says he has made almost 400 skydives and still doing it, I dont think it is the hoppy we know. Take care, Gene

Small World!!! Yes, we go past Ravenswood every time we go to/from Boonville. We stopped in there a few years ago and took a tour...really nice old place, and I hope they keep it up as a Historical Site.

I just recently noticed that the sign is down for the tours. They put up some new fencing, and may put up the sign and start giving tours again come summer.

They started giving tours in the late 1950's to raise money to put stained glass windows in the little church to the north. The windows went in, but the church closed in about 1966. My grandmothers was the last thing to be had there while it was still a functing church. The church is still kept up by locals, and is used for the occasional funeral or wedding. If you look at the big window along the road, there is a piece missing in the robe of Jesus. It was broken out by vandals and is setting on my desk waiting on me to find a matching piece of glass. I am somewhat into stained glass and think I can repair it.

I think it was the better part of 10 years ago that we toured Ravenswood...not too long after we moved down here. Next time we pass by the place, I'll pull into the drive, if the gate is open, and check it out.

Hi, I just sent tacon1 an invitation to join here.
He is still not able to post on KL. So at least he could discuss more things here.
