Indeed playing possum with Mike, his new buddy.

In many areas, third most seen road kill after squirrels and armadillos that reflects their primitive less evolved mammalian intelligence, much lower than crafty raccoons.

As long as you have no fruit trees growing, they love your fruit. I hear them at night on the roof, a pity they wouldn’t go elsewhere.

I have a fruit tree, but the 2 Opossums that visit me don't need them. They prefer the Hazelnuts & cat kibble I feed them.
One of them brought her 3 babies with her. They aren't afraid to eat while I stand 2 inches away & watch.

Thanks, @win231, for a very informative video. We have lots of Opossums around here and I never realized they were so docile. Their "playing Possum" reminds me of some of the infamous fainting goats.

My only problem with possums is that my will dog roll in their poop. Smells awful too.

If you are going to eat one I have found the best way is to trap it and feed it good clean food for a week or so to purge it's system before you cook it up..

Aren't they? I've heard some people refer to them as "Giant Rats."
Well, I find rats cute, too.
