Some days you have it proved to again that you cannot trust anyone, (not having bad day though!)

You might think looking at the title of this thread that I must have had a bad day or something, but I wouldn't say that is the case really, just a day when you reflect on "what you're up against in life", (so a reflective day perhaps?)!

My own daughter aged when about five seemed to understand there were some things she might have to try to hide from her mother, because she didn't trust her to allow a "staying access visit", if her mum knew she really wanted to come, (so she pretended she wasn't too bothered one way or the other, so her mum didn't have to feel threatened her daughter might live her dad as much as she did her).

I often quote my own father on this forum, and he went out of his way to tell all his children, "Its every man for himself in this world", (so there can be little doubt of his views)!

Just to fill you in on my day btw, I was at a bit of a loose end, having tried to contact some mates about meeting up to watch the England versus Scotland rugby union match, (Scotland were slight favourites and managed a deserved narrow win in Edinburgh).

I therefore went to a bar where I knew a few guys for the first half, but didn't really enjoy their company, so went to see if there was coverage at my old club I could attend for the second half, and luckily the "private party" I knew was being held there, had by then started to allow other in.

I watched the game then with some good guys from Lancashire, (who had been playing at my club), and they were a very friendly, fun group. I guess they worked out I was short of a few friends, (have I got any really?!,..., one or two I'd guess, but not that close maybe).

There we are, tough thread for you, now "don't go upsetting me by your responses",(or lack of them!!! :) )!

Trust is hard to come by even on this fourm, I posted on this fourm for certain members to send me their email address so I could send them a free kindal of my book from amazon, I have to give amazon their email address to send the book, so far no one has took me up on the offer.

I can understand your frustration..but there are so many warnings about not trusting anyone on the internet especially women so many have been catfished Dr Phil makes show after show on that topic....there is no trust anymore...please do not take it personally...tis the world we live in...I do not believe you want to deliver to Canada right?

Not just women but men also. They can look half decent on their profile photo but look the worse for wear in reality, like me!

I totally agree...but you must admit for some reason women seem to be the target most of the time and seem the most vulnerable.

You are right , I always thought that people would look at my facebook page or go to my book page on amazon, or put my name it their search engine, and video's from utube should come up.

Well yes, but if my dear old dad was right "trust" isn't quite what he was intending to impart to his children, but the very opposite, an "ultimate truth" you can't trust anyone, (even your own child, and them you, their parents sometimes, bizarre as that might sound).

A good friend I used to call my "second mother", and who I often quote, debated with our local preacher whether "we are alone in this world"(?).

She was religious, and very intelligent, both emotionally and academically, and she'd been a wonderful stay at home mother to her own three sons, but she experienced a very traumatic event in her life, and this probably coloured her view of the world I admit.

I guess we are all a result of past experience, we trust until that trust is broken and then it's difficult to have the same faith again. I think there are times in life where you cannot even trust your own judgment, I certainly look back at some decisions I have made and shake my head, what on earth was I thinking ...:)

Life has taught me that naiveté will be taken advantage of under most circumstances, and that expectations are often not met. If I sound cynical or jaded that’s not the case. If you’ve come to know me here you know I’m neither, I’m just more experienced in the ways of the world now than I was as a young person.

I think that’s called wisdom! 😉😂

Wasn't me.
I bought the book (paperback) when I first read about it here. Just now submitted a review, not sure if it'll be posted after all this time.

Yes , I know Janice , I really appreciate it , thank you so much, a lot of writers are not able to do book signing now , because of cv19 , so we try to get interest in our books in other ways.

John, perhaps trust was not the issue. I feel that anyone who has written and published a book deserves acknowledgment/praise/renumeration and therefore bought the book from Amazon to do just that.

Graham, children develop the ability to 'read' a situation much earlier than we give them credit for.

My mother knew the probable reason why my daughter suffered from 6 months colic after she was born, but couldn't tell us parents what she suspected was the real cause of the trouble, (given as you may know, our baby was like most others perhaps with this condition, perfectly healthy, and absolutely fine after 12pm, having screamed blue murder for the previous five or so hours :( !!!!).

I read after my marriage failed when our child was two, that babies in the womb pick up on stress between their parents, and this they said was the most common cause of colic in babies!

Hence your comment is certainly on the money, though just how much so maybe even you didn't know(?)!

What's wrong, Snow? If you don't mind sharing.

I was reading my posts in Twitter..I post pictures of our dogs and cats..you know ,funny cute pics..anyway…our dog walker is using my posts to advertise her services..for some reason that irks me..I pay her well ..I do not expect to give her free publicity..maybe Tis just me but it rubs me the wrong way..thanks for letting me vent!

That's not right! Not to mention she is using them commercially. I would probably want to have a word with her about it.
I might just do that, but not today, I don’t exactly have an abundance of tact..so I will cool down first🤒
