Grace Slick and Spencer "Lather" Dryden

Jefferson Airplane, the place to go when you need to feed your head....

Greatest quote from The Acid Queen. Well right up to the remark about getting Milhouse high. lol.

The song I usually associate with Jefferson Airplane and Grace Slick is White Rabbit -- an awesome piece of music.
Several groups had put out psychedelic music by the time White Rabbit debuted, but no one better defined the genre than Grace Slick, not even the Beatles with Strawberry Fields. It makes you look at Alice in Wonderland in a whole new way...

You all probably are aware of this, but Grace Slick was not the original female singer of The Jefferson Airplane. The first album The Jefferson Airplane Takes Off the female singer was Signe Tole Anderson and no that was not me. 🤣 Although yes we do share the same name. Unfortunately Signe Tole Anderson passed away in 2016. She was only with the band for the first album and left the band because travelling for shows with a newborn child was not feasible. Her last show was on October 16, 1966 and the next day was the first performance with the band for Grace Slick. Grace Slick was a member of The Great Society with her brother and wrote White Rabbit and Somebody to Love for that group before The Jefferson Airplane even recorded it for the fantastic Surrealistic Pillow album.

You do know your stuff Signe.

Here's the whole story. Jefferson Airplane transitioned into Jefferson Starship and they were forced to sing watered-down songs in the 80's. Grace Slick still sang them and although they were hits she wasn't invested in them.

To be honest, most of that stuff I did know off the top of my head because I really love the band The Jefferson Airplane, but the actual last date in which Signe Toly Anderson performed with them I had to look up. I did however know that Grace Slick performed on the following night with The Jefferson Airplane. Just some useless knowledge that I have. :)

My dear young lady. There is no such thing as a stupid question or was it, the only stupid question is the one not asked? S**t I forgot where I was going with this. Lemme get back to you. I need a swig of Geritol.

Okay I remember now. Like the question thing. Knowledge no matter how trivial it may appear to oneself is invaluable. Always was, is now and will always be. Don't sell yourself short, your strength, knowledge, charm, humor and more so direct to the point attitude is very refreshing here at Shady Pines.
