I thought it would be a good escapism film to get me away from what is happening in the news. I also thought it would be light comedy based on the trailers. I was surprised.
The premise is that a former vet with PTSD (Channing Tatum) loses a fellow vet due to suicide and has to transport his beloved German Shepherd, Lulu, who was also in the war, to his funeral. Because she was agitated and aggressive due to being in the war, the end goal was for her to be euthanized.
Channing Tatum was brilliant talking to her as they made their trip. There were many incidents where she "acted out". I cannot tell you the end, but I cried as I saw it all unfold. It was really all about the emotions of the dog and understanding everything she was going through. Pretty predictable but very touching. Highly recommended for any dog lovers.
